Hmmm....interesting... Why then when I am playing either MP or the completed version of SP do I only have issues with people who hate me. The only time I get "ganged up" on is when I fly into a group of people who are listed as hostile to me. If I happen to be close to a base that is listed as friendly then a furball breaks out as my "allies" jump in. Am I the only one? Or perhaps the others that arent seeing this do not have groups that you are friendly with ...simply neutral. Even when I happen upon a neutral party that is engaging one of the groups I am hostile with I have been able to evade the engagement. No cruise disrupters...no shots in my direction. I must be alone in this.

Some people call me evil....others call me OH MY GOD RUN

Dredd...your not the "only Freelancer" I am also a Freelancer. *grins.

It does not bother me a bit that the game refers to me as a Freelancer. Afterall...that is what you are in the game. They would need to change the name of the game it you were not a Freelancer. You are a very unique person in the universe. I kinda like that.

My favorite char in Star Wars was Hans Solo. A true Freelancer. Did you notice in the movie even tho he helped the rebellion fight a war..he still flew his ship.
I do not look at him as joining the Rebellion as much as he "helped" them.

I AM only talking about hostile factions. Obviously neutrals and friendlies do not hate the freelancer. What I'm saying is, these hostile factions must *really* hate the freelancer to drop an existing engagement to attack you if you're just passing by and not actually opening fire on any of them. Hate you or fear you, take yer pick.

It's not so much a complaint as an amusing observation. The game would be a good deal easier (and it's not terribly hard now) if AIs did not concentrate on you when you showed up. It's also not very far-fetched that your enemies would radio each other and decide to break off and attack you as the most dangerous combatant out there... because you are.

Or maybe they just figure you've got good loot. Lord knows I've broken off fights with multiple police to go after a juicy transport on occasion.

Yeah I do get sort of tired of that when they break of what there doing & attack us the players,I just find that really strange that all of a sudden we're priority one than the target that is shooting at them.

I think that another problem that should be addressed is the bases turning hostile in association with who's an ally & who isn't.

For example I remember shooting at Bounty Hunters to get in good with the outcasts & Corsairs later in the game but in order to go up against there barracudas I needed a new fighter so I took up some trade routes using the drone ferrying engine components to the Mactan base in magellan but in order to do that I had to get go across the Bounty Hunter's main defence base called Deshima I believe. Now you'd expect only the House police to back them up since that is the ONLY ally they have, but no,it turned out that I had every single darn ship in the sector targetting me only.

I tried to get away but who's going to be able to get away in a Drone, even the nearby Kusari battleship was hostile which did me in even though I had friendly status with the Naval forces & also the police and at least Neutral with most or all corporations, sheesh.

Reinland Destoryer

I have many times popped into a system or out of a tradelane into a heated battle going on between factions were one hates me and the other one does not...and they do not pay any attention to me at all. They are not even red on the screen. So...what you are saying is not allways true.

WhiteTiger, but it still happens far more than I think it should. The only cases where I've departed a base or a tradelane into a battle between warring factions, and was NOT made priority target by somebody in range, were during missions.

Otherwise, if I've popped out into a battle, and am within the reach of an enemy's guns, I've always become a target, no matter how many ships are already shooting at my attacker.

It would be nice if they didn't all concentrate on you.. To balance that out, it could be made so your enemies actually use the shield batteries or nanobots they carry around, or have shields that actually regenerate like yours. Or it could even be made so that they fire more than one gun at once..

As it is, for some reason their shields don't regenerate, they don't use annobots or batteries, and don't fire all their guns at once (seems that way to me anyway) so to give them a chance, the devs have them all gang up on you. It's pretty crap I think.

Don't get me wrong, still an awesome game though
