*another slow gunner here*
I've messed around with a bunch of combos and so far I like the best (on an Eagle):
2x Wyrm II, 2x PROMETHEUS, 2x SILVER FIRE
All 3.03 guns, the proj speed on the Wyrms is 700 vs. 600 on the rest but it doesn't seem to matter much. Oh, and the projectile graphics on all 3 guns look cool
Maybe it's an old skool thing, my roots are firmly planted in Wing Commander where the endgame ships tended towards big heavy gun loadouts. That, and we didn't have any target tracking reticles, at least not for the first 2 games. We didn't need no stinking reticles anyway. We learned how to aim
Ever get the feeling... you're standing on plastic?

my arnament is generally as follows for a sabre:
4x nomad blasters (4.00)
2 skyblast Bs (8.33)
1 skyblast B turret (8.33)
1 sunslayer torpedo launcher
belive it or not, sunslayers are very very useful. whenever ships are coming at me in waves, i launch two per target, one does the shields, the other the hull. it works very well when used on freighters, even when you are actually moving. as for normal fighters, wait for them to do their slowdown turn move thing and then launch it, or just wait for them to start to pass you, and launch away.

Welp, I am flying a Sabre with the FLRebalance MOD atm and the load out I enjoy most is ....
4x Nomad Blaster
2x Silver Fire
2x Large Forward Guns (Gunboat weapons but I understand these will be unmountable in th next version)
1x Hornviper II turret (used for mining/wrecks)
2x Nomad Lasers
I have a number of missle launchers and mine droppers that get swapped in and out depending on what ammo I have salavaged. Oh, and for Battleship mission I swap out the Nomad Lasers for a pair of Sunslayer Torps.
"Not all those who wander are lost."

Much debate all saying the same thing, it depends upon what you like! LOL, the only suggestion this "old timer" has is to try and match particle speed with range and you will rarely miss what you are shooting at.
Try to stay at around 50 ms difference or less and about the same for the range. I also recommend you fly out in safe and neutral space and turn off all of your weapons then fire each one, all by itself to see where it is placed on the weapon mounts. Go into the H view turret mode but don't get it too far out of shape or they won't fire. This way you can see the location of each actual mounted weapon and how it "points" in a dogfight on your ship.
I did this and once I started putting weapon Combos together by how they were mounted on my ship it made a difference in how often I hit the target and the damage that was done. Now I hardly miss in close combat situations and a lot of times you will hear them say we need to bug out it would be suicide to attack right now. No duhhh!
For example If you mount a shield draining weapon above a heavy hitting hull weapon on the same side of your ship they should reach the target one behind the other as they have (again 50ms difference in speed) , the same range. Try it you will see what I am getting at.
I personally like the better grade Missles as they can do a lot of damage in a short period of time. I mean if you can do 3000 damage or more in one shot why would you not use them?
I think most people just don't know how to use them properly as they are used to fire and forget missles from Jet games. These missles in this game are tatical weapons so you need to be fireing down on the enemy with them, or from an angle that will bring the enemy towards the missles projected flight path. If you try to shoot them up their pipe (unless it is a very slow target) you will always miss as they can turn away or use counter measures against them. I have even seen NPC's have their buddies shoot them down for them.
Head to head use missles, mines and guns then use the kill engine slide and kick them in the rear. If you are persuing someone then get an angle on them by turning away then back towards them on a diagonal intercept and fire the missle from that angle they almost always hit as they can't dodge what they don't see coming.
Good Flying All
Just some thoughts from the edge of space!

I prefer using 3.03 and 4.00 weaps aand i nvr really noticed a difference in aiming with weaps w/ the same refire rate
This is the loadout on my Eagle:
2 Salamanca MkII's 489/244 Neutron Refire: 4.00
3 Nomad Cannons 847/423 Refire: 3.03
1 Nomad Blaster 635/317 Refire: 4.00
1 Salamanca Turret 489/244 Neutron Refire: 4.00
i find it pretty effective and i'm thinking about switching 1 or maybe both of the Salamancas for Cids to more easily kill shields.
i find the faster rate guns to be better at aiming but lacking in power... with the exception of the Skyblast B of course while the hard hitting ones.... i don't know i just don't really like them...

as u calculate what weapon the best weapon is...
... then u know the fist is the outcast kraken Type 2, firerate 4.00, the second is the GMG skyblast B... but projectile speed is 700 for kraken and 750 for skyblast
multyplayer char.
i use at a sabre (i wanna change it in eagle)
2 kraken type2
4 nomad blaster
1 salmanca turret
at FoxHunter (eagle)
2 salmanca mk2
2 cerberus
2 nomad blasters
1 salmanca turret
at my DragonBreath (defender, gonna be the eagle) i gonna use
2 or 4 nomad blasters
if 2, 2 cerberus/diamondback
1 or 2 salmanca mk2
if 1, 1 tizona del cid
1 salmanca turret
the most i do multyplayer
my singleplayer:

I have used dual catapult missle launchers for as far as I can remember.
Ever since I was lvl 16 and destroyed a lvl 38 player with multiple lvl 9 weapons.
He couldnt kill what he couldnt hit as I kept pounding him round after round till his hull buckled.
If you don't use your thrusters with missles you'll never hit anything. ALWAYS USE YOUR THRUSTERS WHEN FIRING MISSLES! - they're simply faster and more accurate that way.
Ever since this online encounter I have had trouble giving them up, and still have them equipted to this day.
