Anyone else in UK order from DVD Box Office?

I'm sure it's just me being both paranoid and impatient, but if anybody else from the UK has ordered from DVD Box Office (DVDBO from hereon), I wonder if you're having the same experience as me.

I ordered FL last Sunday after EB recommended DVDBO in reply to my post about getting FL from the US in advance of the UK release. They stated on their website that they wouldn't be getting delivery of their stock of FL until March 6th, which was fair enough. I checked my account around midday (UK time) on Thursday and to my great delight, found my order was now classed as 'shipped' and that my credit card had been charged earlier that day.

I was reading through their FAQ at some point last week and I noticed, to my concern, that I should have had an email confirming my initial order and another from them saying that the order had been despatched. I say 'to my concern' because so far, I've had neither of these emails. Now I think of it, when I created a log-in identity on the site, I didn't receive a 'Welcome to DVD Box Office' email either, like you get from Amazon etc. I emailed DVDBO yesterday morning quoting my order and invoice numbers, asking why I hadn't been emailed, whether my order had or hadn't been despatched and if so, whether it was coming to the UK by sea or by airmail. So far I've had no reply.

I expected that it would probably take a week to reach the UK, especially if sent by sea, but my impatience to play the full game and my paranoia in DVDBO having apparently departed from their stated method of handling orders is starting to get the better of me. Has anybody else in the UK had a similar experience with DVDBO?

Somebody else recommended Strategy Plus in the UK, which now seems like the better option, but then it's easy to be wise with hindsight.

First of all, shipping via Canada Post (via which DVDBO ships) by Surface Mail (i.e.: sea) can take upwards of a month just to get to the United States (no kidding.) Surface Mail being sent overseas can take well over a month, or even two, so I doubt you have anything to worry about. I've ordered from DVD Box Office before and their service was really good as far as a place with free shipping goes (of course, I live in Canada, so shipping was obviously much faster)

Major bummer! At that rate I could have bought a 'kosher' UK copy on April 11th! Oh well, you live and learn, I suppose it's easy to forget that the US and Canada are vast countries compared to a piddly little island like the UK and that postal services will take a lot longer.

I too was concerned at the length of time it would take to get to the UK, which is why I didn't bother with DVDBO in the end.

I'll have to wait for the UK release, which for some crazy reason is April 11th according to most sources.

Got it day, ie. exactly 1 week after US release. I should learn to be more patient!

OMG, it rocks! Started a one-man multiplayer server and made the classic mistake of taking a partly-armed Rhino through Cortez and into Bretonia far too early in the game and proceeding to get all my cargo destroyed by Hackers or Corsairs (leaving me creditless).

I turned tail back to Liberty pronto but they blew my arse out of the sky. Needless to say, I realised the error of my ways and started again from scratch back in Liberty. I'll have a Defender or a fully-tooled up Rhino before I try that one again.

All told, I've got no complaints. OK, they didn't email me to confirm my order or to say it had been despatched, but the upshot of it is that FL arrived yesterday exactly 7 days after US release. Considering that's all the way from Canada, that their website said anything from 7-21 days for delivery of international orders and that I didn't pay a penny in shipping costs (only the equivalent of £32 in sterling), I reckon that's pretty damn good.

It is hard to wait, but the wait is worth it. This game is awesome, although the 1-man multiplayer game I'm playing seems a lot harder than the demo. I am going to lose so much time to FL in the next few weeks ...

Play 24/7 offer free delivery of FL on shipped 4th April 2003 for £24.99 UK price.

I pre-ordered Splinter Cell a while back and it came to me 2 days before the official UK release with some promotional goodies. I've been ordering from play for about a year and half now... a very good and trustworthy company.

One word of warning though, if your game f___ks up you can't do jack about it, they simply wont take any e-mails or returns on games. DVD's and Music are a different matter however.
