using salvaged equipment

Am I able to attach a salvaged weapon onto my ship? I noticed that I can bring it to a station and repair it, but don't see an option to mount the item to my ship. Do I have to sell it, then re-buy it for three times the amount?

No, click the small gray square in the weapon picture when you are docked.

Nope. Took me a while to figure this out too. When it's in your inventory (at a station or planet only), you'll see a little blue icon in the upper left hand corner of weapons. It'll fit together if it's attached and be apart if not (like a locked and unlocked icon). Free up some slots by unlocking weapons by clicking on that little icon, and then click on what you want mounted to lock it on. This may read confusing, but once you see what I mean it won't be. hehe
