Just got the game, First impressons and a few questions

Hey Guys,

Well, I just got this game yesterday, and after about 10 hours of play I can say that this is the best space simulation I played since Privateer. I still like privateer better, but that is only because I was a huge wing commander nut and that game was set in that universe.

Quick pros: The graphics in freelancer are very well done, Space is HUGE, interesting story so far although the missons could use a little more variety. I am a joystick player and was hesitant to buy the game because of no joystick support. After a couple of hours with the interface, which is VERY well done, I could see the advantages of it over the joystick. The game's Openended play style is amazing, again just like privateer. I-war 2 was ok in this but not like this game.

Quick Cons: I don't like the ship designs that much, look to new star warish which I hate but I can tolerate. The liberty battleships are pretty cool though. Horrid manual - I'm sorry but there is alot of information that is just left out. Some faction history would have been nice too, to give the universe some history and meaning. It could also maybe include hints to hidden ships and bases.

So a quick review - one of the best space simulation, if not one of the best games I have played in awhile. I was looking forward to playing MOO3, another one of my long time favorites, but it looks like they screwed it up. I'm glad they didn't do that with freelancer.

Oh and my question, How, if you can, do you jettison cargo into space? for use when a police ship scans you or your caargo bay is full?

Thanks guys

Great review!

To jettison cargo, go into your inventory screen, select the item, and you'll see a little icon that looks kinda like a trash can or Windows Recycle Bin. Click it and it'll jettison stuff.

What are you NUTS? You don't jettison your cargo when you're caught by cops... you run... like hell!

But seriously if you just cruise by them or dock with a station / planet they'll forget that you were ever there... Wish the real world's like that... okay maybe not
