"Tractor Beam Failed"

Anyone worked out what causes this or how to get around it? I have found that certain cargo is probematic for the tractor beam, i.e Nano Bots. But I have also found problems picking up stuff like oxygen and shield batterys, which I normally have no probs with. Is it something to do with distance from cargo? Any ideas?

If your cargohold is full and the same with nanoboots and shield battery, you can't tractor it due to lack of space.

Nanobots and shield batteries will only be picked up when there is enough space in the ship for them, same with other cargo really. Think that is what causes that "error"

Good point....thanks for the promt reply (about 30 secs, lol

No, it just means that your cargo room is full and/or you are carrying the maximum amount of nanobots/shield batteries. Make some room, then you can tractor them again. One more thing: check how many units a floating cargo container holds because you need to have that many free cargo units in your ship to tractor the container.

EDIT: lol, three answers at once.

I read (havent tired) that you can jetison cargo to make room if you cant tractor in a nice find..

That's true. There is a little trashbin icon on the upper right of the cargo window when you select a commodity. After clicking on it you can select how many units of this particular stuff you wanna jettison. It's not recommended to do this in the middle of a combat situation because the ship lowers the shields in order to jettison cargo. And no shields = bad news for your hull, wings and eventually weapons.
