So let''s see, the reviews....

The lowest review I think I've seen so far was 83%

We have:

GameStar - 90% out of 100

IGN - 92% out of 100

Next Level Gaming - 93 out of 100

Game Club Central - 9 out of 10

LoadedInc - 9 out of 10

GameOver - 95% out of 100

Average 4 out of 5 star user review at EB

GameRankings - 93% out of 100

Gamers With Jobs - 92% average between the two reviewers

VGM Fusion - 9.25 out of 10

I think it's pretty safe to say that general consensus is the game rocks

You're pulling all the good ones, sure its hard to find any bad reviews but I think you should collect ALL the reviews then average them. I'd say the game would rate about an 8.5 - 9.0.

I said in my opening line the lowest I've seen was 83%, the vast majority are great reviews with the extreme few that are in the 80's obviously being reviewers under the influence of Cardamine

Some people say I shouldn´t compare this game to elite but I cant help doing it and based on it I feel freelancer is missing quite a lot of stuff, especially the the lack of mercenaries annoys me...dont get me wrong, freelancer is good in many ways but it lacks certain indepth gaming when compared to certain old games. My rating would be 84%, which is still good..just not up to the best.

PS: Since I am not english native please pardon my errors.

the overwhelming majority of reviews are in the 90s or high 80s. Lowest ive seen is 83, and i follow the game on several different fan sites. Im tired of seeing people say things were left out of the game just because something they would like to see in the game isnt there. That doesnt mean something was left out. It just means that something that "you" prefer isnt in the game. There is a big difference.

Thought it interesting is that one of the recurring themes I've seen in the reviews is that people either love the sound or hate it.

Didn't quite get Gamespot's problem with the sound, so thought their review was unecessarily low.

"If this is what you want to do, you'll do it, no matter how long it takes..........and usually the longer it takes the more fun you've had!"

Well....I also look at reviews like this...

American Beauty got the academy award for best picture. And Moulin Rouge got a academy award. I think both pictures sucked. I like to read reviews for info that will help me decide if I think I will like the game or not. So...the points they make about a game means a lot more to me than the overall rating. But it is a relative accurate judgement of Freelancer when you see so many reviews in the 90's. I would rate the demo alone...95%.

The "perfect" review would be a summary of all features... and after that a few opinions of different people...

There is no such review, besides, the only major gripe i've seen in ALL REVIEWS so far (especially the negative ones, like the single 70% one and all the 80% ones) is that certain features, they WANNA see in the game (yet shouldn't have expected at all) aren't in there...
Thats not a flaw of the game, it's a biased reviewer...

This is the best game that has come out in years, yet because it lacks certain features from other games with a similar style, people aren't giving it the scores it deserves...

Hate to point this out, but you all sound like Star Wars fans immediately after the release of The Phantom Menace, trying to convince yourself and everyone else that it wasn't a terrible movie.

Not that I think Freelancer is a bad game, I've played the demo, and I can deal with its shortcomings and I still love what did make it in. However, saying that they had no reason to expect certain features isn't completely true, since many promised features (including escort and delivery missions) were cut for some reason or another, but did exist at some time.
