Or the English vocabulary changes slightly over the 1000 years time span. Or should I say, Englisc?
Other examples: faeder, modor, brothor, sweostor, and dohtor.

No, I'm no expert. English is not even my native language, but you get my point Future English shouldn't even be recognizable to our ears.

True, but when has a scifi ever done that? It wouldn't be much fun if you had no idea what they were saying, would it?

"Avoid he Noid!" - Live mine in proximity (Gotta love old-time Domino's ads)

"Booty call" - Lot's of loot for tractor

"Peter Pan off the port bow" - Pilot with a gay name in-range (Not really effective in combat, but i thought it was funny)

"Cross the streams" - Converge on my target

"Open the floodgates" - Open fire

"Like butta" - Easy kill (Surprisingly, I'm neither black nor gheto)

"Prime time" - At 9 o'clock formation

"Soup's on" - At 6 o'clock formation

"Dr. Phil time" - At 3 o'clock formation (East Coast)(Okay, so I ran out of euphemisms; sue me)

"That's the rock where I see the leprechaun. He tells me to burn things." - Ralph Wiggum

Still waiting to hear some of the real military acronyms:

"Charlie Foxtrot" - "Cluster F$#K" as in
"help me out, this is a charlie foxtrot"

"SNAFU" - "Situation Normal: All F$#ked up";
"What your status Red One" "Snafu, Sir"

"SUSFU" - "Situation Unchanged: Still F$#ked up";
"What your status Red Two" "Susfu, Sir"

"TARFU" - "Things are REALLY F$#ked up";
"What your status Red Three" "tarfu, Sir, I need some help here"

"FUBAR" - "F$#ked up beyond all recognition";
"What your status Red four" "Fubar , Sir, I'm going down!! AAAAieeeeeeeee....."

There's a lot more, but that will do for now.

I'm fond of some Shadowrun terms, and I think I'll drop them into MP (since I'll be RPing, of course)... dirtboy and mudgirl (people of whichever gender, who spend all or most of their time planetside), the 'Deep' or the 'Void' (space, though I'm sure this is used in a lot of scifi), things like that.

And any self-respecting space pirate needs to say 'Arrrrrh!' once in their career, just before blowing someone to pieces. If only to get 'Wtf?' as last words.
