like say for instance when i say "Ok now lay the egg" that means deploy a mine......

I remember that some people you talk to in the demo use 'aced' instead of 'killed', if that helps a bit. I'm not sure about the egg one... did you make that up, or did someone say it?

Heh, Meph, it's actually "iced" which is a semi-standard term in space scifi (those more mature and gritty than SW and ST )
It's cool to hear all the slang the other pilots use over the intercoms though

I'm not sure if by hearing it in the background they say aced/iced, though I've heard that term (iced) a lot, but one of the rumours you can get in the Liberty Bar refers to it as 'aced'... Something to the effect of; "Going there is a sure way to get aced".

i heard that egg thing from the history channel or something....but they were not reffering to a mine, but since its the only thing you can really "lay" then...

The AI uses alot of real pilot jargon and slang such as "I've got a bogie on my six" meaning I have an enemy right behind me. I think it's pretty neat they use realistic fighter pilot terms.

I prefer the term "vaped" to "Aced" or Iced". A couple of terms that are interesting from my old Star Wars days are terms like "Vac head" for someone who is in deep space a lot. Common Pilot jargon works too as in "12 oclock high" or "he is on my six". A nice euphamism for he died is "He sucked vacuum" or "the final jump" as in " Yeah he was outgunned six to one. 5 sucked vacuum before he made the final jump". Bogie, Bandit, and Indian(please guys take no offense this was actually a moniker given to German planes during the Battle of Britain) are terms for opponents ie. "He should have armed himself abit better before heading to Indian Country". Heavy...the term for a big ship but not a man'o war. Cap Ship abreviated capital ship typically in reference to a Man'war. Pig- This comes from many places and Mech Warrior in particular...Any vehicle that is slow and ponderous...most freighters, trains, armored transports. Anybody got any others?

"Pinnin' the tail" = Firing a missile
"Picked a scab" = Killed an enemy

"Fox One!" = launching radar-guided missile
"Fox Two!" = launching IR-guided missile

There are more, but it gets irrelevant since this is a space-age sim. God bless Strike Commander manual!

One odd thing about FL. It seems Trent always spells it capitol ship in his log. Read the log sometime during the SP story, it's good First time I saw the capitol thing, I was like wtf?
