I think Lev Arris from Privateer2 was much cooler than Trent.

I can understand why he's so P.O.'ed. After all, he had bet everything on this million credit boron shipment that got blown to bits along with his ship and Freeport 7. All he had left were 500 creds and a steady stream of angst.

IMO since he goes to a bar to get a job and info, he should drink every now and then. There's a difference between havin' a drink and gettin' plastered. If he's gonna drop mines on a tail and launch missiles at another human being, I think the guy can hold his liquor. I mean, in the opening cinematic, he takes two drinks - one glass of Liberty Ale and another of the "good stuff." A single drink from time to time isn't gonna send him carreening into the side of Newark Station.

Now, if you could go somewhere other than a bar to get a job, then there would be no need for this discussion and everyone would be happy.

I agree that Trent is a little stand-offish...But look at it this way...

1. When you meet up with Trent...He was in the process of making a million credit deal....Which was hosed by the attack on Freeport 7....Would make me cranky too.

2. At every turn, someone trys to kill him...Would make me kind of mean spirited.

3. Probably hasn't gotten any action in a while (Not referring to space battles) Everyone should understand that.

LOL CaptainMurdock! Yeah, for some reason it kept popping into my head what the game would be like if you were playing Ryo instead....

Hmm. Haven't played the single player game aside from the first mission on the demo. I seem to recall that he drank at the bar after arriving on Planet Manhatten. He ordered the first round, the bartender recognized him from the news, and gave him a second for free.

As for me, I like the guy; mostly for technical reasons. I was amazed at the character animation for all of the models. They did a great job of showing expression on the characters' faces. Trent even has a bit of a swagger when he walks into the bar. I wince at some of his lines, like when he walks up to someone and says, "whatchya got?" He doesn't sound cool, he sounds like someone trying to play cool, and failing miserably. For the most part, however, all the voice acting in the bar scenes, including Trent's, is good.

What I really think is deplorable is the lack of accents in the game. I have flashbacks to Kevin Costner's performance in "Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves" everytime I go to Bretonia. I cringe when I hear some guy with a flat American accent using British slang. It's the same with all of the other nationalities represented as well.

Oh yeah, one other pet peeve is walking into a bar and seeing half a dozen people, each sitting alone at a seperate table, simply staring straight ahead, with their hands in their laps. At least they're all exhibiting correct posture...
