how can this happen?

This is a free discussion forum on Freelancer. This is the place to discuss Freelancer issues NOT covered by the other boards!

I always read various reviews/previews and everything I can on a game before I purchase it, if I haven't been following it for a long time. For a game like Freelancer, which I have been anticipating, I just preorder it because I know I'll be happy with it. To everyone who uses "warez" because they need to find out what a game is like first, do your homework! I have never been disappointed with a game purchase because I look at all the pluses and minuses and read thousands of words on a game before I buy it. If I don't like anything I read, I just don't buy the game, or wait til it's for sale at bargain prices.

I just end up playing demos until the game comes out. That's really the true test for me. If I am still interested and dying for the game after weeks of playing the demo then I know its going to be good.

"If this is what you want to do, you'll do it, no matter how long it takes..........and usually the longer it takes the more fun you've had!"

Whoever said that the pc game industry is slowly fading is completely WRONG!

Each year, the PC gaming industry makes more cash than all of Hollywood.

I think its, the "videogame industry" and (U.S.) box-office sales, so the PC industry is still a long way away from generating the total revenue of the cinema industry (DVDs. licensing etc.).

It is true, that a lot of developers are leaning towards consoles more in the recent years, and I think this trend will continue, as consoles

A. have a unified structure, so it is cheaper to develop a game for them
B. Make copying games harder
etc.

So don't use the "the PC-Gaming industry is well off enough" as a reason to make your stealing seem less than it really is.

Actually, I had never heard of warez until i came onto this site...still not sure of what it is...Oh well, it sounds like a thing where you get the game in what seems an illegal way and if you dont like it you dont play it. If you like it, you got lucky. not fair to computer gaming nerds like me... heh heh heh..im jk...im no nerd...

*If you have a cat and a dog in the same house, will that be a problem? Of course not, you might just have solved world hunger*

They try, but how can you do it if it gets delivered around on untouchable P2P networks (because they don't have a core HQ that you can sue or close down) and mIRC clients?? It's not that easy, my friend.
