How to live the life of a pirate?

Problem: I want to join the pirates, attack cargo ships and make tons of money stealing cargo.

But when I attack cargo ships in the middle of nowhere police own me even when there are no police around when i started the attack, suddenly 2 police magically turn into 10 police and I die.

I tried attacking a warp gate so when cargo ships get to it they come out of warp and I can kill them like hte rogues do to me, but i couldnt harm the gate.

I tried attackign the people the pirates/rogues hate so I could build my rep with them, but it didnt work. They still hate me.

How can I enter this life of crime? Maybe like a guide to becomign a pirate?

I also just found the "Buffalo Base" in the new york system

I want to go there but it was red, how can I join their side?

perhaps you should wait until you can defeat the police. Then start pirating the cargo ships. Bribing also works.

Well in a way Fear Factor is true..
I CAN take on the police and that way I can be a pirate.. I shoot down the lane portals and attack the cargo ships.. But it's not the best way to make a living..

People are failing to remeber that the Liberty Rogues are but one group of Pirates in Freelancer. In the full version, you can travel to other systems where you are not known, and work on building your reputation with the pirate factions. Do some smuggeling, do a few missions for some of the pirates allies, or spend the big bucks and up your reputation with bribes. Eventually to pirates hatered toward you will decrease, but then local police, and other groups will begin to hate you.

Being a pirate will obviously mean limiting the number bases you can visit, and places you can travel safely.

Good Point PCHOLT!! Also you need to remeber that you are in Liberty Space which is a heavy spot for the good guy's! So it is not the best place to try to become a bad guy due to it is a major house system and you are going to be out # big time. Probally should waite for the full version to try to mix up the bad guy's due to you wont last long in Liberty by yourself and starting out with a bad rep with the bad guys anyway is not good eiather!

Just to clarify: when I said "wait until you can bet the cops" I mean that get some minor missions, upgrade, hone skills, until you are *capable* of defeating the police.

Well... I posted a topic in this forum similar to this one asking for help... Do Rogues and Xenos like each other??! If I kill Xenos will the Rogues like me, or if I kill the Bounty Hunters will the Rogues like me??! I have done half the game as a Prince on a Golden Horse (LOL) but now I wanna be a naughty boy...

That's great but...

I've killed like 15 and the Rogues will fire on me. I'm still neutral with the Junkers so I can't get no missions from Rochester Station!!
