Freighters
Ok, having flown every freighter ( but the target drone ) I can in the game I can safely say they all have their good points:
1. Rhino- handles like a HF. Has the same firepower as a light fighter w/ same protection. Helluva lot of cargo for a light fighter @ 80 tho. Cost about 9k
2. Clydesdale - lil more sluggish than the rhino, more firepower like a castrated HF, but same protection as well. Good solid trader @ 125 cargo. Costs about 23k
3. Rogue Mule- Handles almost like a light fighter! Same firepower and protection as the clydesdale. More forward weapons does leave rearward protection in turret mode for running almost a joke. it was agile and fun! but held only 90. Overall, my favorite frieghter... as a light fighter, lol. Costs about 20k
4. Humpback - its basically privateer's Orion with more cargo room and even less manueverability. It can't turn inside a week. It can compete with HF and some VHF, head on tho. If you truly love and want to keep this one, master the engine kill slide... get distance, turn and head on charge one and kill it. Coast on thru, turn and do it again. It does have respectable firepower in both fighter and turret mode. Up to class 7 shields too. Holds 250. Cost is about 171k. Mostly, you are just buying a fancy German brand name. It'll kill ya in repair bills.
5. Dromedary - Kicks Ass! Its Borderworld made. Same offensive and defensive capabilities of a HF, turns a lil slower than a Clydesdale tho. But still best all round combat freighter! Holds 275 cargo, and costs 62k! Only problem is, its available only on a Hacker base.
6. Drone - target drone. never driven one, wouldn't know. Not been impressed with its stats, and the salesman couldn't offer me anything to switch from my Borderworlds Dromedary to a freakin rice burner. About 62k, holds.. rice. Its main good point is, it blows up real purty.
Best Value: Dromedary it kicks ass. Most fun: Rogue Mule it just kicks.
This has been another IMHO production for public consumption! All freighters were used in combat situtations and commerce activity, pirating included.
Another note tho... I've seen bases sell CLASS 10 Fr shields... yet there is NO freighter even capable of mounting them! WTF? If i could only find a good custom shop that could to the convertion, I' d be glad to give up some cargo space on the Dromedary and cut back on the Class 6 tachyon Hacker weaps, lol
