3rd person or Cockpit? which do you like best?

I thought I'd not like hte 3rd person since I've always played other games in the cockpit so to speak. But after playing FL in 3rd person I'm just as at home playing in one view as the other.I think the gun animations etc in 3rd person definitely add something to the game and since its the default view half the time i forget to switch over anyhow.
Ithink the main significance of the cockpit would be to keep fps up in busy action times but so far no matter how many ships are trying to blast me even my poor old 1gig athlon and gef3 is coping admirably no matter what mode i'm in.
My favourite resolution so far is 1154x864 (because it is a bit finer on the detail than 1024x768 without being too muvh of a performance hit) 8x anistrophic and I using the geforce's quincunx fsaa. 4x fsaa does tend ot cause the odd **** in the game when there is lots of action so an upgrade for meis definite;y in hte works

I definately prefer the cockpit view. Only 1st person provides me with the feeling of being there which is very important for me. Plus in 3rd person my own ship is in the way sometimes when a foe is diving, trying to escape me.

I prefer 3rd person.
Haven't really tried 1st person view to be honest.

I generally use the cockpit mode. The engine noise is softer there, and it tends to grate on my nerves eventually otherwise. I played for about an hour and a half when I first got the demo before I even thought about trying out the cockpit mode, though.

Stormtrooper Tactics 101: Okay class, repeat after me. "There he is! Blast em!" Very good.

I suspect most of people that has played WC/Privateer games,
uses the cockpit mode. I'd like to see better structures, but
i don't compain. At least it has cockpit.

I like the current ones. Tho some of the struts can be a tiny bit thicker and more visible but they do allow for a larger viewable area of the screen. It's ok to have thicker and more complex struts for joystick only games since you'll be focusing on the cneter of the screen more.

For me, I use both depending on how large the ship im flying is and what type of battle im in. If the ship is too large then using 3rd person can really by limiting since the ship takes up a large portion of the screen (like the Anubis).

I'm totally dedicated to 3rd person views. Whenever possible, I do 3rd person... I like to see the beautiful ships.

I find using Cockpit view to more of a challenge in battle and also flying in debris fields. So as of right now I am not sure what I would use more. I do like seeing my ship in action.

I actually swap and change a fair bit depending on what im flying. I find 3rd person combat more comfortable in light fighters and 1st person in the less maneuverable fighters/frieghters.
