Freelancer Demo Download Alternative

well i am using the gamespy version I will try cutting off ezpad access after i have started the game and see if it all still works. So basically i'll tell my firewall to have it ask every time for access once only and see if it can work without a continous connection if not i think i will get the open demo later on, work has a nice 100 meg link to use to get it cos I don't like the idea of ezpad either but then I was dying to play the game

Ok people I got it working. You have to follow this simple instructions:
1. Download the file from the above mentioned site.
2. While you are waiting, register a free Gamespy account
3. Run the setup once. It will ask you for your email address. Leave it blank (or fill it if you want to receive the newsletter
).
4. The program will open a web page which will display the Key (you must be logged into gamespy)
5. Copy that Key somewhere. possibily on a notepad file.
6. IMPORTANT! Before continuing, go to your temporary directory (c:\windows\temp on win 9X or C:\Documents and Settings\User Name\Local Settings\Temp on win2k and XP) and copy the folder named "tempinstall" to a location of choice
7. Let the setup continue and let it install ezpad.
8. If everything went ok, the real Freelancer setup will start.
9. As soon as you see the main install screen, quit, and run the setup form the directory you saved setup files in. (should be something like E:\tempinstall\Application\Setup.exe)
10. Enjoy!
