WHERES THE BOOZE?

Ok maybe it's different somewhere in the full version but from the demo I think it sucks you can't go in the Bar and get a drink, geez it IS a BAR RIGHT? What, do we have to hear the guy say everytime he talks to the bartender "No thanks I'm not thirsty"

Take note kiddies, this is what happens when Microsoft gets the game.

But hey maybe I'm mistaking and the full game you get a nice selection of beer and all the characters aren't so dorky. In that case I'll buy it when I can get it for 5 bucks.

Yes, getting tanked would be a welcome addition.
"Hello Mr. Trent, get you anything? a rumour? a flagon of fortified wine?"

Do fly when you've drunken booze! That's against the rules

"God bless this acid house!"
"I was near the scene of another crime at the time, officer."

It would be a waste of time to code in buying beers. DA had more important things to do, and more important things to leave out than becoming an alcoholic for a career.

No drinking contests in Freelancer.
Too bad, we cant meet in bars and see who can drink most Liberty Ale's (or something like that with alcohol)
And after that a nice dogfight

Uh... Microsoft... right.
"Man, FL was almost a great game, but stupid MS didn't let you buy beer in the bars! So much for that SPACE SIM!"

Dudes, do we really NEED every single little last possible detail in a game? Do we really WANT every single little last possible detail in a game? Is it even CONCEIVABLE to have every single little last possible detail in a game? NO! I mean, Jesus... wanting joystick support is one thing... flaming a game because it doesn't have beer drinking in it is... frankly, it's stupid. At least come up w/ a respectable complaint!

I am wondering if Grinaide is making fu of the people who gave bad reviews of FL. I mean his name is Grin Aide, he is helping us to smile.

Accually, in the very beginning of the game Trent drinks a glass of some kind of booze at the Manhattan bar

Deviant it is the principle, as it is now the game seems to have been tonned down to make it "politically correct". Digital Anvil went to the trouble of making a unique bar for every base with a bartender and the whole shizzbang, but they can't make it so you can get a drink from him? I was just kidding when I said I wanted a full list of alcahol to pick from. I'm not saying we need to have the last detail all the way down to the Tequila worm. I'm saying it's damn retarded to have Trent say "No thanks I'm not thirsty" everytime he goes to the bartender. Don't make it sound like a "Gimme a drink option" is so unconcieveable.

They should have just made the "Bars" into something different like the "Job Room" or something, and taken out the whole bar and bartender idea. I would've liked that more if we can't get a virtual drink.

But my point is Digital Anvil would have very much wanted it so you can get a drink, but what I think happened is MicroCRAP came and said "No we can't have the player buying virtual alcahol so that has to go"

It's too bad cause what it says to me is if this part is tonned down, then how much of the rest of the game got tonned down too? If it wasn't for MycroCrap Freelancer could've been a hardcore game but what we got was a tonned down game so that they can slap a "For Kids 13+" Logo on it.

I know for a fact that I never saw any characters get a drink except as in the cutscenes for all the time I've followed the game...

To be honest, when I was playing WC Prophecy, I was surprised to find out how much those pilots drink. It's good to know what Terran Confederation's finests, first and last line of defense of humanity, are doing to prepare themselves for the fight.

I doubt if it's MS' toning down on DA. Let's face it, that drinking and then operating ships (read: driving), let alone one with torp launchers, is not a wise thing to do. You can perceive it politically or not, it still is a fact. Why can't you see it as Trent's self-discipline? part of his character?

Come on put it in perspective, it's NOT that big a deal. If it was going to be included it would have been added as an afterthought, but DA didn't have the luxury of having more time to mess around with these things. Getting the game bug free was more important than making sure Trent could buy a drink.
