Kinda dissapointed

Kinda dissapointed

This is not intended as a flame but....doesn't anyone find the game dissapointing? I do.

It feels like a G.I. Joe action figure playkit, i.e. plastic and detached. The game has been seriously dumbed down. Static prices (come on....), flat combat (is there really any tactics in there?), average graphics, corney voice acting...

A game showing its age already.

If you like it, fine, so no fanboi slamming (goes straight to /dev/null).
Just want to know if I'm really the only one.

I am kinda dissapointed but i still like the game, i think they could have done better with 4 years of work.

Then the sheep said...

How can you be disappointed with a illegal copy of the full game? Buy the full release version and things may be a lot better.

Amen... Most of the people here complaining should know, that they are only doing things worse for themself... more and more developers go for the consoles only, because piracy there is a lot harder.

I don't know if you are talking to me or the other 'original' poster, but I played the demo gentlemen. And I don't see the combat being radically different in the full version, as the trade system/economic model and so on.

Keep your prejudices to yourself.

Combat in the demo sucks because it takes place in New York, which is the starting system, so the AI there sucks. When you go further out, you will encounter tougher enemies who use better tactics.

lol guy names himself dissapointed, then makes a post sayin hes dissappointed. I dont know what ya call people like that here, but on sports boards, they are called trolls.

Sorry to dissapoint Tachyon, but no, they don't get better AI. They get somewhat better ships, with a slightly better turning radius. They also seem to have a slight difference in style, depending on faction. But within 5 hours, you should be able to shoot anything down with easy. It's no harder than duckhunt. Actually, more like duckhunt when you would play it by getting reeeeally close to the screen.

Sorry blue cheese, but Tach would know alot more then you would, since he has been one of the main beta testers for a long time. Mean while your playin with warez for what? 3 days?

Post Mon Feb 24, 2003 12:19 am

I wholeheartedly agree with you Dragoro!

and? your point is? maybe tachys gameplay is not as good, or he does not care, or its still for him challanging, the ai is as dumb as it was in sl.

no one I meet that played the game and was not in the beta denied that. so I guess
a) there is something deeply wrong with the warz version
b) there is something deeply wrong with the 1.0 version
c) the devs thought someone will steal a copy pre-release and decided to make 1 day after release a patch that solve this

my guess would be b)
but you never know ... and well wait, I heard one dude complaining that the demo is to hard.
so I guess here we have the target audience for the game

Sl was aswell rediculis (I know its wrong spelled) in its difficult level, so why would be anyone surprised?

Has everyone noticed that the people dissing Freelancer are new to the forum?

We're die hard fans! We'll love it

there are those that resort to piracy simply because they can.. and there are others who resort to piracy because they are tired of paying 55.00 for a game that shouldnt be more than 20.00! developers ask us to show responsibility when they themselves show none.

(take a console game from the 80's and early 90's ..... 5 to 10 kb of code for a nintendo game and we were still paying 45.00 for the damn things!) hell you can take every nintendo game in the world and fit it on one DVD disk!

take freelancer itself.. its already showing its age. multiplayer isnt anything thats going to keep people coming back (short of a small core group who absolutly love the game.. but thats true about all games..) the only thing that can save this game is a mission editor. if ones not released in 4-6 months people are going to be saying freelancer who?

i was extreamly eagar to buy this game but now i hear that the multiplayer that we all expected isnt in the game. so far all ive seen is find pirate shoot pirate return pirate to base (maybe) other than that there are no other missions ive seen. ive now played the game for about 15 hours 9 of those in multiplayer.. so in two days.. im pretty much already sick of the game due to its repetative nature.

it was announced that the game would be released in two stages.. the singleplayer game with some multiplayer involved.. and the extended multiplayer that had all the bells and wistles. 4 years in the making and we are limited to finding increasingly harder numbers of pirtaes with differnt names and more friends..

what it all boils down to is they took out all the flavor and left us with a watered down version.. i just wanna know if the steak is still on the oven or has been thrown in the trash already?

possible saving grace would be a mission editor for mod makers.

Warezers are thiefs. Theres no way to get around that. You may try and justify it in one way or another but in the end, its BS. Your just a common thief. And thieves oppinions are worthless.

GOOD LORD! What's with all the cynicism and prejudiced takes on Freelancer?!

I'm not saying you can't like Freelancer. But holy crap, it's like you guys START playing the game already having decided you don't like it! You start playing ANY game just to look for flaws, and any game will seem boring. What do you do in Unreal Tournament? Run around and shoot, repeat. What do you do in Tetris? Align falling block, repeat. You can describe any game in this fashion and suddenly it starts to sound boring and repetitive.

"Oh, I played the game for 12 hours and really enjoyed it the whole time, but now that I've gotten enough enjoyment out of it already, I'm going to decide continuing that experience would just be repetitive so I won't have to pay any money for what I've played!"

That's what most of this crap amounts to.
