Additionally, Saitek users can do this themselves with the game profiler.. in case they didn't already know.

The SD version for XP/2000 doesn't support X/Y axis mouse yet but a new version is due out soon as I understand it.

Frankly, I don't why they just can't support a joystick.. it's not like it's alot of work, quite the opposite. While using mouse flight, it's functioning just like a stick.. minus the comfort, minus 20 buttons and minus the familiarity. It's great they have designed an alternative to folks buying a $60-100 stick but hey.

Of course, If your willing to shell out $300 for a joystick (I did), get the HOTAS Cougar. You can program any axys to do anything you want, and I believe you could have the programming done to recenter the mouse when you release the joystick (I believe the only thing that you have to do is always play the game as the same resolution, because the joystick will move the mouse to coordinates in pixels, so if you change the resolution, the coordinates get messed up). There is a nice demo that comes with the software cd that actually draws the joystick in MSPaint by just pressing the trigger button.

I was wondering if anyone else were having problems using this software with FL recently ? Maybe it's just me...

I'm still experimenting with this, but I've had some success using the 'Roll baby Roll' mod, and the joytokey program from the link that Bargib put in the sticky.

Benjon, if you can be constructive, don't post. It helps to be friendly with the other members, and if you don't agree with a topic or post, explain why. Then peoplpe will understand your point of view.

OK then here is my explanation

"does anyone care if someone can use a joystick? Whats wrong with a keyboard?
anything to be different!"

I have tried various 'Keyboard to Mouse', 'JoyMouse' and others.

While it is fun to use it in transit, it is not viable at this time for use in combat.

The cursor could not be mapped correctly to the ship\guns at the time I tried the programmes for a number of reasons.

The creator of the above mentioned programmes says he "would have to play the game to understand the problem".

1,100 years from now folks in the Sirius system have advanced beyond using a joystick. Hey, planes flew with joysticks before the First world War!

I don't mean in relation to FreeLancer. I mean with DirectX games in general.

Anyway, nevermind about my previous post. I've since found out that it doesn't have anything to do with the above mentioned software. It's the joystick, itself, that's screwy. I haven't been able to get my joystick to work with DirectX games since I upgraded my video card. I installed the most recent drivers (ForceWare 66.42) for my OS (Win98SE) and was able to get the joystick to work again. However, DirectX support is really broken in those drivers.
