Final word on Dynamic Pricing

Alright, we've all seen the questions and answers. We've seen: "Dynamic pricing wasn't in the beta build... BUT they could put it in the final!" we've seen: "There are things still under NDA that we can't talk about"...

So the game is gold. It ships in 2 weeks. Can we get a definite answer on the whole dynamic / static pricing for commodities in the game?

Not "I think it is" or "I hope it is" or "It might be!". Just a simple yes or no answer from someone who truly knows the answer.

They will be static, I'm pretty much sure of it. In the demo they are definately static.

If that's the case... Then that's kind of a major feature of the game that was cut.

Also, this web site needs to update their FAQ, cause it still has a big description of how the dynamic economy will work.

I think they're static in the demo because the whole universe is not there to make the pricing dynamic. There is only one system in the demo, so how could you have a true dynamic pricing system without all the other bases and planets present to effect supply and demand?

I don't know this for sure, but I wouldn't put money on the fact that the demo will be the same as the full retail version.

No they are definately static, the feature was cut.
Don't look so glum about it though, I actually don't mind it the way it is now as each time you land at a new base your Neural Net is updated with that bases commodity price index, as you will have seen in the demo. Now this feature would have been impossible to implement if the prices at every base were changing due to supply and demand, your CPU would have a siezure.

The reason I do like this feature is that you can quickly see what is a good deal and what isn't and if you load up on a particular item is there a good place nearby or on my way where I can sell it. Instead of sitting and thinking "yeah boron...now where was that place that had a great price for boron....I stopped there about 38 stops ago, Liberty I think.....or was it Bretonia......." I hated having to that in the elite games and spending hours stopping at place to place trying to find that good price again.

If it was dynamic though you'd be able to find some sudden bargains and great prices due to increased demand in one system or excessive production in another.

Welll i rekon...................just make the prices change every hour.......that would mean u have to work out a new route to make the best money every hour. That would also take less time to implement than a full Dynamic Pricing.

Possibly but I've never heard of any market being that unstable, unless there are random Great Depressions and sudden Economic Booms all over the galaxy.

Either way I'm just trying to show you guys the lighter side of some of the decsions DA made, everyone is so negative about every little detail at the moment. Some thing were excluded with a clear purpose in mind, others just simply because there was no time left.
