you can blame them for the ezpad idea - it's sending info back and forth from their servers and the only explanation directly given was "if you don't install ezpad then the game won't work"... not to mention it does this every time you want to load the game (i.e. you have to be online)... pretty lame deal for the whole thing really... and since the demo executable is built to use this feature, hoorah for whoever had that bright idea.

Every time I start the game it wants me to log in, what do I log in with.

You're to supposed to recieve a key from fileplanet when you download the demo. Check the FL Techincal forum for details.

your suppose to register with File Planet (the free registration NOT the one you pay for), then d/l the demo. When installing it will install a progy called ez-pad that will get the code from the FP site and register it on their site. You need to be connected to the net when ever you want to play the demo.

I recieved the key from fileplanet, have a cable modem so I am always connected to the internet but it asks for my user name and password but nothing I type in works.

including the user/pwd for the fileplant/gamespy site?

I'm guessing since i didn't get it to work either...

UPDATE:
Woke up this morning unistalled Freelancer and ez Pad, reinstalled them, and now the demo WORKS FINE!

I had done this maybe 5 times last night to no avail.
Oh well.

i'm sure it was due to the volume of traffic on the FP server...I tried manually pinging those servers and couldn't. I'm about to give it a go here also. If not, there's allways monday and hopefully a normal release?
