Wait and download it Monday. This may be a problem only with the Fileplanet demo. Also make sure you are not running a bunch of stuff in the background, ICQ, Messenger, Virus checkers, etc. These can mess up a lot of games.

Hate to say it Midaro, but sounds like a bad download. Missing dll's will kill any program right away. Only suggestions are to either put your brain on hold and try fileplanet again, or wait til Monday's wide release. Sorry mate.

ive downloaded the file 3 times from 3 different servers.. your saying they are all bad?

It's because of that piece of junkware, called EzPad, from netquartz that is installed so you can only play this demo on your computer... just in case you might want to give the demo to a pal or something without microsoft knowing (*gasp* couldn't ever allow that, could we now?)

apparently it first asks lsm1.netquartz.com the url to post the key you are given to, which is http://nqapp.gamespy.com/scripts/nsm18.dll, and then sends to the former an encoded certificate and then receives one in return.

if you search on google you'll find out that several game publishers have dumped this system as it causes much trouble

i seriously doubt this - the only thing that will change on monday's demo will be the second URL the key is posted to, instead of a gamespy.com host it'll be a microsoft.com host...

I had the same problem... but I did a few things and it worked for me:

1. Uninstall Freelancer Demo
2. Uninstall PAD
3. Install
4. When chosing install type just hit express install

Voila... it works now.

Hmmm...I seem to be having a different problem. I don't get any error messages, but the game just fails to launch. Click icon, get an hourglass for a second, and nothing.

I've got my key, but it never asked me to enter it anywhere. Does it ask before, during, or after the install?

I have the problem, removing the installation and reinstalling using the express install did nothing for me. I had zero tasks running when i installed. And had d/l'ed the demo twice.

If it comes with that darn protection on monday i'm gonna be so p#@@$%.

I'm allmost certain the problem is lack of communications between my computer and the FP server or Netquartz server...i can't even ping their server (netquartz) probably it can't register and drops duringthe install. Lovely.
