Hi, I was wondering after Freelancer is over will Microsoft do a Starlancer 2 in the Freelancer universe, with the new systems their it, say you join one of the navy to fight off Aliens, Pirates, and other thing. You have a base ship to protect and fly with. Another thing is I hope you have training missions at a Training Centre before you posted at your ship, say around 3 to 5 training missions. I just hope it comes true .
Freelancer is starlancer 2
WARNING - MAJOR STARLANCER SPOILER - MINOR FREELANCER SPOILER
Well more or less that's true; the story lines of the games are connected. In Starlancer you played for the Alliance (basically Americans and allies), fighting against the Coalition (basically Comunists). The Coalition gets an upper hand at the beginning of the game and forces the Alliance to retreat from the inner solar system. By the end of the game you help the Alliance establish a solid front at Jupiter, but it's clear that the war is long from over and the Coalition has a sizable advantage.
Freelancer begins with the Coalition breaking through the Alliance's front at Jupiter, essentially winning the war. As a last desparate hope, each country of the Alliance sent out huge colony ships to a distant solar system to begin anew. The countries of the Alliance basically become the factions of Freelancer (this stuff has all been covered by previews so I don't consider it much of a spoiler).
There is probably enough time between the end of Starlancer and the beginning of Freelancer that you could do a "Starlancer 2." However, the outcome would already be determined (Alliance loses). So without any kind of plot discovery or motivation; it would be little more than a nice space shooter (then again, Starlancer and the Freespace games didn't exactly have much plot motivation either, but they were still good).
