Yes there is strafing... in fact you can make a circle strafe around a stationary target while firing at it.

Your tactical options are more than sufficient as some guys who already can be called "Freelancer veterans" pointed out

By the way, using strafe thrusters alone you can't circle around station targets... You have to engine kill and use thrusters. A bit harder to do than in FPS games but there are situations where it pays off

I forgot you could engine kill. I loved doing that in Tachyon.

Don't forget, all of your guns and missles are able to rotate so you could fly at an angle and shoot anywere on the screen without changing your direction.

The strafing is cool too, although I would like to be able to go up and down also.

aaa, good ol' sliding in Tachyon. There's no up or down strafing in Tachy either so.....although left and right make things tough already!
How many days 'til FL left anyway?

reversse speed of 15 is pretty poor, but at least it exists, so hopefully will be useful, the lack of roll however is a severe bugger, its vital in every space combat sim and flight sim released, and apart fromt he dogfighting point of view, things looks so much prettier if you can roll and spin em around
standard plan on a head to head pass, barrel roll at them, blind lob a missile into the leader to kill him, then just pick one and kill it fast, whilst strafing and rolling like mad to throw the enemy off

Thats just simply the reverse speed. You can use thrusters and go up to 200m/s then engine kill and turn around quickly. Not as versatile as having a fast reverse speed but still is effective.
