I think i heard some where that enging speed is relyl limited to a slow, medium, and fast engine. Is this true that there are only 3 engine speeds? How can werace if we dont have engines that are upgraded like in Mechwarrior series where you pick the kmph you go
I have to add that there is a problem with using the cruise engines for the purpose of escaping. It seems that it takes a few seconds to power them up... seconds in which you are virtually helpless because your weapons don't work as long as the powering process takes. Is it possible to abort this charging sequence or are you a sitting duck once you activated it and until the drive kicks in?

just presing back will disengage the powering up of your cruise engines
to correct eb: engines normaly give you a speed of 0 to 79 (80)

You can abort. That's part of the cruise engine though. It's fast, and vulnerable to disruptors, but it's really fast for getting away. By the way, if you're doing really bad and trying to use them to get away, start dumping flares BEFORE you charge it, and keep dumping them until you are at full speed. Disruptors are had to fool.
