Why don't you get yourself a 25" screen and an original ejector seat while you are at it?

Seriously, for this game almost everything is worth it and your mouse should be perfect for Feelancer.

You should be set up great for Freelancer. I will say this about the optical mouse, after using one now for over 6 months...I would hate to go back to one that is not optical! It is very smooth and stays that way. No more cleaning that dang little ball and rollers!

And as far as subwoofers...if a player does not have one..they are missing out on a huge addition to their sound system. Having the big boom, boom sound is great!

Heh,Actually if I'm not mistaken Boscoe said that the optical mouse is the best for Freelancer since obviously they are more precise.I too have an optical mouse Intellimouse Explorer & should play a handy role in the game.

I just ordered the MX 700 from Logitech, optical mouse and wireless.
And I am happy that I could connect my 5.1 System with my Audigy :-), I hope FL
will have good 5.1 effects.

My optical mouse "jumps" all over the place, especially when I'm moving it quickly. How can I correct this problem? I went back to my old default Microsoft mouse because it was so annoying. The optical mouse is a Logitech, unsure which model.

@Sarpedon

There is most likely something wrong with the surface you are moving the mouse on. The consequence is that your mouse sometimes can't recognize wether it has been moved or how far it has been moved. Try a surface with some sort of texture to it. It shouldn't be completly smooth but a little bit "bumpy". I'm using a "ratpad", no trouble with it. See www.ratpadz.com for more info.

I just got an optical mouse as well and it kicks ass! I love it. Logitech MX500

That old microsoft ball mouse is now in my trash.

Concerning the mouse buttons, you can use all the extra buttons in FL. FL supports it

What kind of 5.1 system do u use and how do you like it?
I'm planning to get a new system soon as well and I'm still not sure about the sound system. I thought of a Logitech 640 or a Creative Inspire 5300. I'm probably going to get an nforce2-board so I won't have a card like audigy but there's not too much difference (in quality) anyways... Would be cool if you had one of these 5.1 stystems and could give me some advice

Thanks go to Mad Dog for hosting this pic!

Sarpedon, I had a cordless optical..
But my mousepad was of metal (covered in leather) so it f****d up..

Since then I realiced that cordless is a waste of good money.. The precision goes to the depths of hell..

Lev Arris: Don't laugh, my friend, sometimes truth is stranger than fiction ... I have a friend who plays flight sims from a surplus F4 ejector seat! He's got 3D surround sound, a subwoofer under the seat, a customized control panel (with mouse I might add) and is looking at finding some way to incorporate simulator-like pneumatics (possibly using force feedback outputs?)

He has two sticks, a "gaming" stick and a "flying" stick, as well as springs of different weights for different types of games.

This guy's so immersed he scares even me sometimes.

Not only does he talk the talk, he walks the walk ... he owns in air combat! He's a retired fighter pilot, what do you expect?
