Oh man.. This was one area I was hoping the list would be deep... I got worried when I did not see anyone talking about this... Anyone know for sure if this is as limited as it sounds!!!!! There is really not much to upgrading ships????

Mining equipment would have to be one of the things ya can upgrade as well ? no?

As far as i got it there is no mining equipment whatsoever. You just destroy an asteroid with your weapons and every so often some usable stuff pops out of the debris which you then can tractor onboard. My memory is a little bit clouded but wasnt this the way you used to mine in the good o' Elite as well? Or did you have to buy special mining lasers? Can't quite remember.

You can upgrade your weapons, missile, mines, countermeasures, thrusters, shields, and turrets.

I thought I read in one of the previews you could upgrade your Neural Net? Making it more effective. Or does this just happen automatically each time you gain a level?

No, that was possibly an old concept they had for Freelancer back when the Neural Net actually flew your ship for you. Now, the Neural Net is just the basic autopilot (to get to places) and an information center.

Another question....I thought the Neural Net helps you with the combat flying, targeting, etc,? If so ..this is more than just a plain auto pilot system. Does it not lead the target for your guns?

From what I have read in the previews you do make levels as you progress thru the game..giving you access to better ships. It seems the levels are tied into what your net worth is. How much money you have made. Is this not right Electric Brain?

Wite Tiger, the Nueral net that your thinking of was scrapped a little while back. Now you do all the flying yourself.

Whats the point of upgrading thrusters ?
I thought every ship had the same speed ?

I thought smaller ships are faster and more manuverable than big ones.
