War Gamer Preview

Just got done reading the preview of Freelancer on the War Gamer wed site. I must say it is a excellent one. I know for me it answered some of my concerns about Freelancer and it's comparison to Privateer. Time will tell...but I am really excited about Freealncer after reading this preview. I hope I am not getting so excited I end up with a big letdown after playing it for a couple weeks like I did with Privateer 2.

I really liked Privateer 2, maybe because im British and all the British voices made me feel at home..

but yeh i loved the whole look of the game, i hope the bretonia systems will feel like being in Britain

I agree.. excellent article.. However, the minumum specs they listed got me a tad confused.. 1 gig processor with 256 ram? Maybe that was the minum system they ran it.

All and all, this article got me very excited. I can not wait to explore!

I saw that too dredloch. It is my guess they are refering to the system they feel should be running Freelancer. It certainly does not agree with the other min system requirements listed on several sites. It is clear from other posts made by the beta testers you are not going to have to have a 1 gz processor to run Freelancer at a good frame rate.

This is in reply to twopintssmatty.

The British accents in all the chars in Privateer 2 bugged the heck out of me....being from the US. But I was willing to over look that flaw if the game play and story was as compelling as Privateer was. After finshing the story for Privateer...my reaction was , " Wow!..that was a awesome ending ". After finishing the story in Privateer 2..my reaction was , " Thats it?! ".
Now with that said...I think it would be great if "some" of the chars in Freelancer have a british accent. Esp those in a system such as Bretonia.

WHite Tiger i hope u appreciate that a lot of games don't have full on british accents. I also enjoyed the british accents in P2:TD simply because it wasn't same-old same-old american accent. I probably get as annoyed about the american accent as u did about the british accent.

kumari

I hope my comment about the british accents in Privateer 2 did not offend you. I apologize if it did. My intentions were not to offend, but point out a part of Privateer 2 I did not like. That does not mean I do not like the British accent.
I really do appreaciate dfferent accents and cultures from around the world.
I think it is only natural to want a game to represent what you are use to in everyday life. So any company should take into conseration what the majority of the players will be and create the game with that in mind. Now if the game itself is based on a certain culture, then that is how it should feel in accent and game play. But I could not see just British accents in the whole Privateer 2 world. From the little I have read in the previews of Freelancer, they have tried to mix the cultures. The Kusari system for one has a good reflection of the japanese culture. I think that is cool.

Didnt you know? The British make the best bad guys! And I think with Chris and Erin Roberts being British that might have had some infuence over thier choice of actors.

I can't actually remember finishing Privateer 2. I know I did, but I think I was drunk at the time and I can't remember a thing about it. And I can't play the game again as it runs way too fast on my system and I don't have any DOS drivers for my sound card. Only recently found out that you can get it to work under Windows so I might give it a shot again.

I'm currently downloading a copy of Wing Commander: The Kilrathi Saga from http://www.theunderdogs.org. It is meant to have been optimised for Windows with remastered sound and so on. It's been a while since I played WC and this should keep me occupied until my preview of Freelancer arrives.

The Roberts brothers are British? I thought they were Texans.

As for many of the actors being British, this might also have something to do with the fact that the cutscenes were filmed in the british Pinewood Studios.

I'm pretty sure that they are. I can't find any info on the net right now to be sure. Maybe someother person can enlighten us. Anyone?

I'm fairly certain that at least Chris has an English accent, but he isn't living in Texas anymore, he's off in Hollywood I think. I'm fairly certain Erin is still at DA working on Brute Force.
