This game compared to real life....

As I'm sure many of you already know the factions that represent different nations are vastly different than their modern day counterparts. Liberty is the American faction and has the weakest vessels of all but they have more of them. Though America today does have a larger military in terms of number compared to Germany, Britain, and Japan... it also has stronger individual military units. I'm an American so I guess I notice this quite a bit. While I am somewhat disappointed to see the American faction so weak it is a nice change to be the underdog once in awhile. If you guys would have been in charge of this game... how would you have made each faction?

An African Nations faction. A bunch of systems loosely aligned with each other, each ruled by a ruthless dictator who deligts in persecution of the poor to amass more personal wealth. Each system woould have one brand spanking new luxury liner as the goverment base. The goverment elite would all fly top of the line import ships. The rest of the system would be resource poor with small outposts of people scratching a living from the stars. Normal ships would be beat up freighters and left over fighters from the last war. The main trade would be in drugs, exotics (alien artifacts) and rare metals.
