How is mineing done.

First off what things are mineable. Second how do you mine. Is there a certain process? are ther certain tools neccesary. It seems kind of intriguing sunce this has never been done before in a single player space sim. Sorry if I tend to get a little annoying I just have so many question and Im quite excited about Freelancer finally coming out. I mean its been a 4 year wait.

well you can mine if you have a mine launcher, just press a button and a mine is released, then that mine will home in on the nearest target, wether it's an enemy, a friendly or you.. you cant realy mine areas, mines just find the nearest target and blow it up

What I mean is can you mine asteroids for tradeable materials.

Post Sun Feb 09, 2003 11:34 pm

LOL @ MD.

You go to an asteroid field and shoot rocks. Some of them will let out a tractorable product.

Oh, Ok sounds simple enough.

Hehe, it was an honest mistake! besides English is not his primary language.
Let's clear this up:

"Laying mines" means distributing hazardous, explosive obstacles to deter hostiles/deny the hostile access to a certain area.
"Mining" means extracting precious minerals for commercial purposes.

LOL , but that's Z's gig

And yes, 16 is the age to buy beer and cigarettes and stuff in Holland, but you have to be 18 (if I'm not mistaken) to buy hard liquer. Oh well, it's still better than 21 (in the US). For me it's not a problem though (I'm 23)

Hang on...isnt mining supposed to be dangerous? Wont you get the roids owner gunning for you?

Post Mon Feb 10, 2003 3:17 pm

Asteroids are owned?
If so can I sue if I crash into them?

Never argue with an idiot, they might be doing the same thing.

Post Mon Feb 10, 2003 3:30 pm

The last asteroid I owned crashed into Jupiter. I never even got to name it.

Can you make a "living" out of minig alone?

"God bless this acid house!"
"I was near the scene of another crime at the time, officer."

In the last build we saw, for instance mining silver in Colorado was very dangerous for your health. It seemed that every minute you got attacked by a bunch of the "owners"...

You can very easely make a living out of mineing, id used to mine the colorado silver fields for 2 hours till i had about $200.000 and buy a valkyre. But then they put in a bunch of "owners" that woud kill you on sight, so getting a tough ship would be a REALLY good idea
