Mods etc.

How likely is it, that there will come out user-made mods?
Does anyone know whether it will be easy for skilled users, to enlarge the universe and add new missions and plots?

There will no officially supported programs for modifying FL. I guess we'll have to do it ourselves like for Starlancer.

Since the game isnt even out yet, we dont know exactly how much we can add to FL. We gotta have the public take a look and tear this game apart.

Let's get them TIE fighters in the game!

Couldn't you basically tell how easy/hard it may be just by taking a look at the PR Beta?

I am no great programmer by any means, but I can usually just look at a game's directory folder and tell how easy it will be to play around with it as far as this subject is concerned.

In the PR build it seems pretty easy to get access to the files. I guess the hard part will be figuring out what format it uses. Since this is a beta they may encrypt the files somehow once they release.

It won't take long to find out if it will be easy or hard to make your own stuff for FL. I would expect the designers don't want to make it super easy, but you never know. If you have to go in and change stuff with a hex editor it will take a lot of trial and error to see where everything is stored.

That's assuming if a hex editor will work with there code.I bet all of you can make guess as to what the most widely asked for mod will be,heh.

I'm looking forward to user-based mods especially in particular a balance mod with which we have different speeds for ships & maybe balance some weapon & hull configurations for the player.
