FL in PCGamer

PC Gamer has a hands on of freelancer in their March '03 issue on page 26. Nothing new other than another guy who really seems to like it. Of coarse the guy is Rob Smith...

Oh, and check out GoneGold tomorrow as they're supposed to have a preview of Freelancer...

WTF? How do you have the March issue already? I just got the February issue like a couple of weeks ago. I think they're holding out on me.

of course it's out of date... pretty much by the time you read your issue, 2-3 months have passed since they wrote it.

No, I truely and honestly have it. To be honest, the recent issues have actually been arriving a little late. Last year, I used to get issues about a month and a half early, rather than just a month... Maybe it's because I live in the U.S..... and have been an avid subscriber for almost four years.

EB, stores in Montreal get PC gamer for the next month at the 3rd week. I got my February issue the 18th of January. I do not buy the magazine often because the reviews are extemely biased, but sometimes they have OK covers...
Nevermind: you have to remember the following rule:

PC GAMER will NEVER write a bad thing about a game in a preview or a bad comment on a demo on the CD envelope. So it means nothing if PCG liked the game in preview.

Got my March PC Gamer and the Computer Games Mag with Freelancer on the cover. Interesting read. They have a section in the CGM with interviews on
the Slumping Space Game genre and ask questions on it's future with,

1. Chris Roberts (WingCommander, etc,etc )
2. Adam Pletcher ( Freespace series)
3. Derek Smart (Battlecrusier series)
4. Michael Powell ( I-War/2 series)

A lot of them don't think it's going to get better, however Roberts feels that
FL will give the genre a real boost in the right direction.

i just got my PCG last night its in there but it is not worth buying the mag just for that, the hands on thing isn't even that good (i say again don't go out and buy the issue just for the FL hands on preview, no good screenshots and no new info)

I'd buy it for the Splinter Cell demo alone. That game is frickin awesome. I thought the PCG preview was good. He wasn't completely good to it, but overall seemed to really enjoy it.

And for the record, I have heard them say bad things on many occasions in the Hands On section. If they aren't impressed with an early build, they'll tell you. They usually say something like, "But we'll see if they're able to turn it around" or whatever, but they still let you know if it sucks.

Stormtrooper Tactics 101: Okay class, repeat after me. "There he is! Blast em!" Very good.

They've been downright hostile to games before, even in previews.
