DA made its own engine for this game right? (slightly off topic but related to graphics hardware)

Booster, the voice over was added after the film was done, the studios were terrified of the end result and decided that the voice over might give it, you guessed it, the gumshoe feel 8)

It was ok, specially since i didn't know better when i first saw the film. Years later upon seeing the director's cut i realized (again IMO) that the voice over was totally unnecessery and to be frank, had taken away some of the feel of the movie. Ford is actually giving away some of the plot at the end...

But hey, to each his own.

Gotta hand it to the casting agency...

I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the darkness at Tan Hauser Gate. All those moments will be lost in time like tears in rain. Time to die.

I just dont have the $$$$$$ right now to upgrade the intel chip.

Let me ask another question.

If I can run the demo on my machine...should I assume I can run the game?

Post Fri Jan 31, 2003 10:12 pm

I guess it depends on the demo's date. If it's a demo from the early stage of developpement, it might have lower sys requirements than the product. But I doubt they will rise the requirements beyond reach.

I seriously doubt they'll release a demo from earlier in development... If anything the demo would be a newer build than release. I suspect you could safely assume your PC would run the full game good if it can run the demo, though often sometimes they include lower quality sounds and textures to reduce file size, which would improve performance.

However, more often than not. the demo code isn't as 'tight' as the release.
this usually causes the requirements for the demo to be higher than the release build

Seeing as how they're releasing the demo after they go gold, and not before, it seems highly unlikely they will use unoptimized code.

I would be seriously suprised if FL ran with itegrated video. The lowest I would take a guess that it will run on would be a 16Mb Vid card.
You can get a Geforce 2 at bargain basement prices these days, one of them would probably cost you less than buying the full version of FL.

Post Sat Feb 01, 2003 10:16 am

Well I will try it with the demo

My friend said the intergrated card was 32mb.

So who knows..

Cant hurt trying.

Post Sat Feb 01, 2003 11:59 am

Your right Smash... it certainly doesn't hurt tryin... and not being able to upgrade can be frustrting when given advice like I/we gave you... but for your own sanity at a later stage... it's as honest an answer as we can get

Good luck... and enjoy... it will probably work...

It is possible to buy a 64mb Geforce 2 GTS on eBay for about 38$ US.
I got mine for 50$ (shipping included) but it's GTS pro, made by Hercules and it was 6 months ago. It's pretty safe to buy stuff on ebay since if it doesn't work, you can just sue the seller using the ebay form.

Some integrated cards are pretty good. One of my friends could run Neverwinter Nights on his 2 year old integrated when I had such slowdowns on my Matrox G450 (when I had it)...

Thank's Death!

NWN's requirements was just as high as that, and I can run it fine

Post Sun Feb 02, 2003 10:56 pm

I can run Freelancer better than I can run NWN. So if you can run NWN just fine, you're pretty well off with Freelancer.
