Best Ship

I am new to freelancer and have been playing and was wondering if anyone had some recommendations on what the best ship in the game was....or just recommendations on ships in general.
Also I'm am currently playing through the game for the first time, and was wondering about ship recommendations for where I am. I have just gotten to Leeds for the second time, after meeting up with the two Rhineland pilots that help Juni, the scientist and myself escape the New London system.

for where your at in the game the crusader is your best bet, flyers choice on armament. once you get to Kusari the dragon or barracuda are good, as you will need torpedos. once you beat the game, stick witht he anubis till you get the creds to get one of the boderworlds fighters. eagle, titan or sabre...

try to get some nomad weps as the use no energy.

good flying...

Voilà! In view, a humble vaudevillian veteran, cast vicariously as both victim and villain by the vicissitudes of Fate. The only verdict is vengeance; a vendetta, held as a votive, not in vain, for the value and veracity of such shall one day vindicate the vigilant and the virtuous. Verily, this vichyssoise of verbiage veers most verbose vis-à-vis an introduction, and so it is my very good honor to meet you and you may call me V.

As I went through the game for the first time, I tried as many ships as possible after I got the Anubis, including the Rheinland fighters. Even though is takes a long time, I would reccommend that you fly as many ships as possible and visit as many systems as possible to get the full feel of the game.

Don't forget that the most powerful ships in each system will be sold by the military. Look for a battleship to get them. And always go for the best shields you can get! Shields can make a big difference.

Thanks every one!

I met a very nice player that gave me 2 Mil in credits and a bunch of random equipment. I am not in an fully decked out eagle. I am not in the process of finding jump holes and filling out my nav chart. Is there an easy way to go about finding the jump holes and other random stuff that is intoresting?

Go to the Spoilers Forum. You'll find a list of all the jump holes and a list of all of the wrecks.

Other than going through the use of a spoiler,
Part of the adventure of the game is the exploration of it.
Although I can't remember the number of times I've played single player, I don't think I've ever completely explored every inch of space or every mission that's available.

I'd definitely recommend playing the game through several times before looking at the spoilers.

Well...I do plan to play the game through......but for multiplayer I'd like to know how to get more nomad weps......I've got some, but I got those from another player. I have also killed some Nomads, but they didn't "drop" anything.

I believe you have to be a certain level, like 38 or something before they will start dropping them.

Oh ok then...if anyone has some definite confermation on this....let me know......until then i'll keep trying...and another quick question...where is multiplayer should I go for high paying jobs that will keep my rep up with the house governments?

The best three ships in the Sirius Sector are the Titan, Sabre and Eagle. I managed to compare each one of them and I decided that the Titan is the best ship. I went to Omega-41, then to Freeport 6, bought the bribe for Corsairs, went to Leon Base, did some missions against the Red Hessians and bought the Titan at level 33.

Best ships start to finish IMO are:

Dagger

Barracuda

Eagle

“SISU”
(Pronounced: siss-sue)
(Meaning)
Guts, Tenacity, Steadfastness, Courage, and an Indomitable will to Succeed, and Survive.

Once you reach at least level 30, take your Eagle, Sabre or Titan into clouds found in the Omicron Alpha and Gamma systems. In those clouds you will find jump holes to the "Unknown Systems". Be aware, high level Nomads patrol the area near those jumpholes...so you better go wearing a very good shield and sporting the best weapons you can get your hands on.
Killing the nomads around the jump holes will produce nomad weapon drops which you will be able to mount on the class 10 slots of your ship.
Now, if you decide to go though those jump holes:
In the unknown system connected with Omicron Alpha, you'll find nothing but brightly lit space, radiation damage and high level nomads.
In the unknown system connected with the Omicron Gamma system, you'll find
a system with two dockable planets and high level nomads.

Going around those "unknown" jump holes and going into those unknown systems is a sure fire way to test the ships you fly and determine what ship suits you best (as well as test your own skills & tenacity...short of playing against other players in MP pvp)

For my particular taste and skills, my preference has always been the Outcast Sabre outfitted with 4 nomad guns (usually two each of cannons and blasters) , Advanced Debilitator Turret, Firestalker and Cannonball missle launcher. Ripper Mine Dropper and Advanced Counter Measures. Mounting a Class 10 Positron Shield & Advanced Thruster.
I chose the Outcast Sabre because it has more armor than the Eagle and manuvers better than the Titan.
Eagle is fastest in manuvering, but has armor equal to the Hammerhead.
Titan, although has the heaviest armor, is slowest in manuvering. (A trade off)

...or you could use something a little lower on the class ladder and not fall into the boring tedium of having a super-unbalanced ship, with super-unbalanced weapons that cut through everything in half a second without requiring you to do anything silly like time your shots or conserve your energy.

Less is more, people. It's loads of fun to sail into Nomad turf with something a little less intimidating and still kick ass with it.
