they usually contain some loot - guns, missiles, cargo, etc. Just fly up to about 200 metres and fire a single shot or two - you should see them drop some loot, then tractor it in. Don't spray them with fire or you might shoot up the loot. Also, bear in mind that the more lucrative loot will be in the more dangerous systems, so take your best toys
