SP Mod question

I played Freelancer back when it first came out and would like to come back since some of the mods look promising. The FLRebalance and TNG mods seem to be good from their descriptions, but I honestly don't know which one to pick (there are quite a few). They all seem to add things like new ships, weapons, shields, graphics, etc. What I'm looking for in a mod, in addition to that kind of stuff, is primarily better missions. The original game had horrid side-missions, since while they had different descriptions, in the end they were all the same (go here, kill this ship/base, pick up the stuff, come back). No real escort or defense missions. Any good mods that make the side-missions more fun and diverse, maybe make the economy better/dynamic, plus all the normal ships/weapons/systems/etc. is what I'm looking for.

Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated.

ReBalance is good but I wouldn't suggest TNG 2.7 I think it is because on the mission where you have too escape from planet Manhattan the planet fires lasers at you and the battleship moves and therfore making it so the mission doesn't clik over.IF you get that far!!!

I would recommend the Tekagi's Treasure mod, it has some well balanced ships, and loads of them look good, new systems, the lot, except watch out for one of the ships.... it makes it so you can have like 6 thrusters..... and it has very very fast thrusters.....

Remember, it's not about dying for you country, it's about making the enemy die for theirs.

From the mods i have seen on my dad's computer that treasure one is pritty good. the other 1 that has more ships and more weps is "All Good Things 1 or 2"
there both easy but there are more ships more weapons and diffrent encounters.
For example, the Xenos are in better ships then the Rogues and there are battleship encounters...

The Treasure mod seems to be primarily ships and multiplayer; I'm looking for single-player, supports the campaign, and more diversity in the side-missions and economy (if possible). I like ships too, as well as the beam weapons, ship upgrades, etc., but honestly I found the SP game to be pretty boring un-modded since the side-missions and open play were really just a constant repeat of the same thing; go out, kill stuff, pick up loot, bring it back, do it again. Even the missions that claim to be different always end up resorting to this model. No defense missions, no escort missions, etc.

Just curious, so if I understand correctly, TNG 2.7 is permanently broken, but just on that one mission? I hadn't seen that complaint anywhere else. It looks like it hasn't been worked on since 2004 (understandable given the age of this game), so I don't know if that was ever fixed or not.

Are there any other reasons that ReBalance is better than TNG, or that there are better mods than either of those 2 (again, by "better" I mean that fit in with my desired attributes from a mod as listed above). Thanks again for your input and advice!
