Angering NPCs near Battleship Norfolk

We're seeing an issue in our MP server where when during a PVP battle outside Battleship Norfolk accidentally, (or deliberately as the case may be), shooting the NPC gunboat around the battleship causes the NPCs to go nuts and then everyone in the Cambridge system gets booted by the server.

This seems to only happen in this location. Is this a known issue with FL and is there a fix?

How would I go about getting rid of the gunboat?

We normally run the Server Operator 2 mod which only gives a startup player a Rhino instead of a Starflier, a neutral rep, and turns on regens for NPCs. We also run a modified player looting mod that makes all freighters lootable.

We've turned off the player loot mod but the issue persists. I s'pose the next step would be to disable the Server Operator 2 mod and see if that fixes it, but nothing stands out in the associated files that might be a cause of the problem.

Any assistance greatly appreciated.

If you have the server available, you can simply go into the servers install folder, and then into the data/missions/encounters folder.

You are looking for a file called:
patrolp_gunboats.ini

Open it up, and where you see sc_gunboats, replace it with sc_fighters.

This will just swap the gunboats in the encounter for fighters.

That just might do it. I thought about deleting all the gunboats but thought that would be a big job.

As for the problem with the server, i cant suggest anything other than what chips has already sugessted, unless there was a way to examine a core dump of the server... but then youd need the source code to understand it...
