Perrishables

How do you keep Mox and luxuery foods from going kaput in your hold? By the time you get to the planet, it's dead.

MOX, luxury food and alien organisms are all <<Highly Perishable>> which means they have a short 'shelf life'. Every few minutes one (1) unit will expire in your hold. So if you spent, say $800 per alien organism on the way to Cambridge Research trying to make $2,000 each then just do the math.
You lose $800 in the initial investment and have to make it up out of the profit from the remaining cargo. That means your surviving cargo is only worth $400. ($1,200 profit each minus $800 for each dead, stinking organism = $400) Then there's the clean-up fees, burial etc. from ALG.
So, in the end *avoid* all combat and diversions with perishables.

I know it's not the right forum so be warned:
** SPOILER **
You can minimize your loss of perishable goods: just land everywhere and sell your cargo. Buy it back immediately (for the same price). They are all 'fresh' now. Start again and head to the next station/planet.
Obviously this is very slow traveling. You cannot save EVERY commodity but you will arrive with more than 90 % - but it's hard earned money.
So don't do that with 10 Alien Organisms. But with a cargo hold of 275 it will bring you about 500'000 $ per run

Ohhhhhhhh, It all becomes clear now.

Some people are like slinkies. They don't do anything, but you can't help but smile as they tumble down the stairs.
