Need help with "W" button

Ok, first of all I have played and conquered Freelancer back in 2003. I recently purchased a ton of mod packs and I am awaiting for them to arrive. In the meantime, I am playing the game again from the beginning to familiarize myself because of the long absence.

I have recently played for several hours and now I am working on level 11, but somewhere along the lines I did something that is causing my acceleration to stop (i.e. goes back to zero instead of maintaining speed) if I release the "W" button.

Does anyone know how I can get it back to normal where I don't have to continuiously hold down the "W" button just to fly? I like having top impulse speed and just hitting th tab button for afterburn when necessary. Thanks to anyone who can post a helpful reply.

Have you tried clicking on "Options" to see if you have done anything?

Hit F1 and look at the options settings.

In options, there should be a defaults button, to reset back to factory settings.

Come to think of it, I did have to get a new keyboard late llast year. Wore out those keys I used all the time playing FL.

p.s. Used to be the same with the old Sinclair Spectrum and the "touch pad" under the keyboard. The keys most often used got sort of frazzled.

If you have a mouse wheel, you can use that to control speed.
