A Few Thoughts on Freelancer

First off, I want to say hello to eveyone who runs and supports this site.
I've been lurking here for quite some time and this is my first post.

I wanted to say a few things about Freelancer and I hope this is the correct place to post it.

I know the argument has been made countless times about the control system in this game. I happen to really dig it. It works with my imagination. I fly with a LogiTech trackball and it's a blast.

I've been running a little 'private' server (going public soon) for my friends and after a few years, we're still playing the game. IMO that says a lot about the quality / replay value of the game.

There are countless things about this game that I really like, from the graphics and sound to the custom add-ons. When I play Freelancer I lose myself in the game and after all, isn't that what a good game is supposed to do?

I also wanted to send out a HUGE thank you to Sanic for outstanding ship add on (I run it with the Evolutions 1.27. Also thanx to anyone who contributed to that package)
I'm in my mid 30s and I grew up with the Star Wars films and toys.
Life goes in such a way that if I were to sit outside and play with Star Wars ships, odds are my neighbors would call the nice men with the white jackets and padded rooms. Because of the Sanic ship add-on I get to fly a Y-Wing!
I cannot express how much joy that brings me.
Sure it sounds stupid, but it really is the small things in life that make it worth living.

Keep up the good work Lancers Reactor staff and crew.
You provide a great service to the Freelancer community.

Welcome to the site!

If you like Freelancer, make sure you buy Freelancer 2!
If only Microsoft would announce that they're developing it *crosses fingers*

If Microsoft were to make Freelancer2 I would buy it without a second thought.
While most of my friends got their versions of FL from the 'bargin bin' for something like $15, I bought it the week it was released for $50.
I honestly feel like I got more than my moneys worth.

I also agree that one of the things that makes this game so enjoyable is that it is so open to be played in any manner you want.

I have some pilots who are 'good guys' and then I have my 'bad guy' pilots that I use whenever I get the desire to be an intergalactic train robber. =)

...And in other news today, there was a disturbance at fifteen different EB locations where it would seem that customers arrived in their boxer shorts and bathrobes. Chanting something about Freelancing they hurled their bodies to the floor and began kicking and screaming.
These people refused to leave the store until a video game by the name of Freelancer 2 was made available to them...

If it gets me FL 2, I might be willing to join in myself.

Lol. I remeber when I first tried FL 9demo). I didnt understand hiw to go into cruise mode, so I enede up failing. Later I tried agian and beat the first mision, but then a group of bandits came by as I was heading to pittsburg or something and killed me in like, 3 seconds (probably outcasts). This turned me off. THe only reason I bought it was becuas e I would get a massive discount for buying 4 games at once, so I just figured "what the heck" (Freelancer was really the only non-essential game there that I was kinda interested in anyway). My opnion of the game soon chnaged from minor dabbling to full-scale addiction. Even after doing almost everything possible, I still enjoy playing! I cannot wait till FL2 is announced, if it ever is! If they do announce it, I hope they listen to all the FL2 idead posts on this and other freelancer fansites.
