@Achilles:
Thanks, Achilles!
I will definitely keep that on my list. I am in the process of going through the game for my first time. I just got it this past Christmas. It's been slow going since I am also busy with work right now.
Once I've gone through the game thoroughly, I'll be going online and will definitely be trying out the different mods. I've already started on a list of what I want to try once I am on my own.

Like others here, I saw this game on the shelves many times and ignored it. I got it this weekend and I am LOVING this game. I need to try some of the multiplayer servers out there as well.

Howdy all,
I've been reading the forums for a while now, and decided to add my two cents. I've enjoyed Freelancer now for years, playing SP and MP. I believe the whole idea of the physics of the Freelancer Space Travel is that it's futuristic with inertal dampners, and other "things" to bring the ease of space travel to everyone. It's the same idea as when the automobile came about. The first people to run Automobiles were not only rich, but had to be instructed to operate it. Now almost everyone can drive.
If you're looking for a Modern Realistic Space Sim, check out the new Space Shuttle Orbiter Sim made by a fellah in the UK (I believe). Do a search for Orbiter under the search Engines, or go to www.orbitersim.com . It's similar to MS Space Sim, but the documentation makes the travel a LOT easier. Plus there's concept ships that parallel jets-flight to make learning the Sim a LOT easier.
Just a thought.
P.S., does anyone know what happened to the folks at rebalancemod.com? Thanks.

Starlancer is the prequeal to Freelancer. The Aliiance ( the ancestors of the great houses and criminals) fled to SIrius from Sol. In STarlancer, you are an Alliance pilot fighting agaisnt the Coalition. Also, the intro kinda implies that the COalition will comeback (or the houses will probe Sol0 with it's "we will never forget" comment. Also note that Sol still exits. THe Nomads didn't destroy it, that intro was a beta version an was scrapped due to later plot conflicts.
