Mod Recommendations?

Hello all,

Played FL when it first came out -- strictly MP on our/my LAN. Never played the SP game, and, in all candor, don't have much desire to. I recently reinstalled FL, and I was hoping that y'all could make some MOD recommendations. Basically, I'm looking for something that doesn't change the "core" game too much -- and, most of all, I'm looking for something that generally makes the game more challenging.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance,
V

Well there are plenty of good mods out there, TNG, Rebalance (although it hasnt been updated recently). Chips' and his team's mod, Evolutions, is supposedly very good. [BLATANT PLUG I also work on a mod with a couple other people. It's called Epsilon and we've heard it makes the game quite difficult [/BLATANT PLUG

There are several good servers listed here. Of course I am partial to mine!

If you had read the topic he was asking for a mod not a server

Thanks for the recommendations. Incidentally, is there is list of available MODs somewhere on this site? I looked, but I wasn't able to find anything.

Thanks in advance.

umm, just look at the mods, it isn't THAT time consuming is it?

*looks around*: am I the only one here who has never contributed to a mod ??

bp made this thread. The explanations to the different Mods give a lot of information to you if they changed a lot in the game play or not.

IMPO Evolutions and ReBalance still reflect the original game play but are a lot more challenging. You can even choose how hard the game will be.
ReBalance has been updated, latest version is 3.5 beta 3 .
Evolutions 1.28 is here

making all the factions fly their VHF straight away with advanced shields and guns -might be a bit too chalenging if u start adding level 10 stuff though

Try some of Chips' mods they don't make serious changes in the game tho, they're the best I think...

personally, i think that the Shroud mod by KitiHawk is great. beat the SP with it. basically most of the ship mods dont change the game and r great fun.

In case u were wondering, my fave ship in the world so far is the Shroud. After that comes the Titan and in third the Dragon

The Evolutions Mod is a flat out blast. Multitudes of new systems and factions and ships. All ships are original Mods and you can customize them with ooodles of new equipment, ie, shield regenerators, powerboosters, different types of thrusters, Hull Armor...etc. etc.. Plus there are varieties of ships of the same model. For instance you might prefer the RavenClaw with better armor or the one that has better manueverability. Some of the evolutions servers have fairly vibrant clan communities. I'd suggest HALs_2003_Evos server. Great Ping, very stable and Clan friendly. New Clans get a starter package depending on the number of players they bring to the server, ie, 30 million for 5 and 10 million per each after that.

Plus if you'd like to test your PvP skills... heh. there are some fantastic pilots on HALs.
