Can''t Advance

Finished the main plot. Quick history: To start fresh I downloaded a saved game (can’t remember which site) that had everyone neutral, but main story complete. The author of the saved file indicates this in the readme file: “A save game where the game is complete and you are neutral to all factions in the game, so now you can join the Rogues, the Lane Hackers or even the Corsairs and buy a Titan or just explore the universe. Note: The file has NOT been modified or hacked in any way!”

Continuing to play with new alliances, etc. I realized I’m not advancing any more. Does the game “cap” at some point?

Here’s the low-down:
Current Level: 23
Current Worth: $1,819,808
Next Level Requirement: Mission
Total Missions: 120
Total Kills: 984
Total Time: 47:etc.
Systems Visited: 46
Bases Visited: 107
Jump Holes Found: 52
Fighters Killed: 983
Freighters Killed: 0
Transports Killed: 0
Battleships Killed: 1

Any help? Any ideas? I want to advance so I can purchase the Sabre.

Thanks!

Hmm you did do missions rite?

Post Sat Nov 06, 2004 8:18 am

Yep! I've done a bunch of missions while stuck on level 23. When I started with this "neutral saved game" it was on level 22. Didn't take long to go to 23. But after that? No matter what I do-- difficulty of missions, trade, etc. nothing past 23.
Fortunately I still have the saved game where I left off from finishing the plot; I might just go back to that file...

The game caps, but it is at level 38. Whatever the problem is, it must be in that downloaded game. Not certain if you could get neutral with all factions without doing some hacking. I've been neutral with most, but there is always somebody who doesn't like you.

I would side with Puke here, and say that the save game was definately hacked to make it neutral!

Level 23 ceiling huh? Sounds like a *cough* beta *choke* weird setting to me.

i've been nutral to everyone before but it was difficult and there was always some one that would atack me if i killed a single one of there friends. im sure its impossable to be completly nutral to everyone though. i became nutral by hunting xenos to the brink of extinction (or as far as i could destroy the never ending pains). after that it was just a matter of the right hack at the right time.

Why bother being neutral when yuo can be happy with everyone; thus opening doors for all sorts of fun & frolic. This is doen by using the AlPalsLovesYou MOD. Too bad it does not work with more MODs.

It is hard to fly with turkeys when you soar with eagles.

Thanks for all your input. Actually the "neutral" file I used had the game complete and everyone neutral. However, once I started the game, alliances and enemies were made according to the actions/missions I endeavored upon. As it stands now, the Hessians love me, but the outcasts hate me. But again, I'm stuck; time to go another route. I think I’ll go back to the saved game after I completed the plot. I’ll be broke with a well-equipped falcon, but the game will be more of a challenge again.
BTW, any ideas on how I can land on Freeport 9 and snag the Eagle? I believe that’s the outcasts and they hated me in the previous game, too. Maybe I’ll try that mod file where everyone is mushy pals... Thanks again for the newbie.

u got a game save? what you need a game save for story is easyyy to complete only hard missions is when oyu have to take uot 2 nomad battleships

yes they do. but on the topic, It must have to do with what money they had at the end of SP, cuz say if u have low money thruout the SP, then youll have a lower level cap. Doesnt effect how much money you can have at a certain time tho, or where u can go.

Hahukum, I deleted your post...I dont think I've ever seen something so off topic in my life. If you continue to behave in the forums like this, you will receive consequences. I have already emailed others regarding your behavior and will discuss with them further.

<< BTW, any ideas on how I can land on Freeport 9 and snag the Eagle? I believe that’s the outcasts >>

Nope. The Freeports are all run by the Zoners. No problem landing, unless you've managed to get the Zoners hostile. That isn't easy, but I did it once when I was warring on the Bounty Hunters. I hadn't noticed the Zoners were turning hostile, until I tried to land on a Freeport and was refused!

Thanks. I've never used a Mod before but I tried the one that makes you friendly with everyone unless your flying a mission against a particular faction. Anyway, decided to bypass Freeport 9 and went for the Sabre in Dresden. After I beef up my ship, I'll disengage the Mod setting.
FYI-- for those who went off topic: I did complete the game, took it to the Nomads, had a great time, yada, yada. This latest attempt (with that saved file) was to try something a little different, a new spark, whatever. Having ditched that attempt, and going back to my last saved game at the end of the plot, I like where I'm at now. Thanks for all your input (and for the Mod).
Peace!
