Starlancer and Freelancers

Does starlancer take place before Freelancer, like when that war on earth was being raged?

No, it is a seperate game and story line.

Semi-correct answer there. The conflict mentioned in the intro is the one played out in Starlancer. In SL, you play a member of the 45th volunteers, a rag tag alliance wing. However, for all practical purposes, the two games are entirely different (although their display's are shockingly similar). Nothing from SL carries over. Although, why take my word for it? Shell out the $1.75 and buy it on Amazon. --- VH16

SL is basically the precursor to FL. It was the 400 years of fighting which caused the exodus. The alliance was beaten by coalition and decided to get out of dodge. They ended up in Sirus Sector. And from that the story was developed.

IF you will watch the intro movie all this was elucidated. If you play SL you will get a feel for the conflict which percipitated the exodus.

In THEORY it was supposed to eventually be a trio of games which were interwoven and related.

This is what I know

SL Takes place at the very Begining of the War(There were smaller conflicts) Mentioned in the FL Intro, This war lasted for 100 years before the Coalition got the upper hand and beat the alliace, The rest you should know.

400 YEARS!As the intro says that sleepers left in 23th century ie in 2200s"It was the 23th century, mankinds darkest hour) then the war should have started in 1800.

Yes it does.

It is also based in a time when pilots were skilled and could use a joystick. However since settlement in the Sirus system, mankind has lost the skill to fly a spaceship properly with a joystick and now has to use a pointy pointy, ooh point a little quicker, mouse controller.

Yes Starlancer is made by the Roberts brothers, creaters of the Wing Commander series.

Starlancer is more like a proper space combat sim that uses a joystick, whereas Freelancer features a space ship that is controlled by a mouse.

Probably the feminists in the far future have banned the joystick as being too phallic and thus male chauvinist.

Azar, wait! SL's on amazon for $1.75, it's where I got my copy and I've been extremely pleased with it. Buy it, all of you, and play it. It's an awesome game, and if you don't beleive me, download the demo. And the war is 100 years, the person must have been using the numbers on the right of the keyboard and hit 4 instead of 1. --- VH16
