Mission Commission

So what's the point of the Mission Commission? I know they are supposed to be a neutral faction, but if they organize missions for criminals (i.e. the Corsairs) and for house Police forces, couldn't they be bribed to give out information about resources, fleet positions, etc? I would think criminals would want to organize their own missions, to keep whatever their intentions might be well concealed. Aside from being incredibly annoying, I don't see any purpose for them! Anyone else have an idea?

Possibilty one: They are some huge telecommunications network which handles the traffic of information, so for a fee, you can send information through them without running the risk of being traced by the authorities. While the authorities would normally stop that kind of organisation, it also helps the authorities, because they can send information about escorts or surprise attacks on criminal bases without the criminals being able to listen in.

Possibility two: They are not one big faction, but rather mission commission is actually just the title used for the branch of a faction which give the details of a mission to people who are undertaking them.

I am just an imbecile,
I will only complicate you,
Trust in me and fall as well.

Possibility three: Some programmer just came up with the name to irritate people.

As a wise sig line here at TLR says, "Whoever came up with the Mission Commission should be shot"

Actually, it was:

Whoever came up with the mission commission should be lined up and shot.

Amen

I think the mission commission is just a guy or group of guys that irritates you about how you're mission is going.

"Death to ZugZug!" Oh, and by the way, considering I outrank you, I shouldn't have to listen to you.

i don't see the point of them, i agree that they're probably just there to irritate you.
all they say is, look at the nav map for details, you've completed the mission objectives or stuff like that, that don't actually tell you anything new, cos u already know if you've destroyed some rebel and destroyed their base.

In space, no one can hear you scream!

They're there for show: it would be boring if you took off and the waypoint just came up on its own, then you go there, get the threats about being used as some type of cleaning tool, kill the fool you said it, then the message just comes up "Mission completed". It's much better with MC.

They are pretty buggered the mission commision why didnt they make it so the faction gives you the mission not a senile old fogey.
Besides they could be holding out on money which normal factions would hand out or is that already oh well.

If you dare trust in me you better be damn well good enough to help!!!

That's an idea. Maybe it is a standard program for organising missions set up to create a computerised image of a real person who talks to the people on missions. Perhaps to prevent people getting freaked out at a voice suddenly speaking to them with no indication of where it is coming from.

But I reckon that the real reason is, as Zack Lyons said:
'They're there for show'
