Nasty FL Tactics

This is a thread about nasty or just evil things people have done to get a certain ship or commodity or other item. I'll start this off with something I did to get a Sabre while maintaining my reputation as a bounty hunter.

It all started in Dresden when the Red Hessians wouldn't let me land on their "hidden" station. I decided that since my reputation wasn't terribly bad with the Reds (I hardly bounty-hunted them or their allies around Rheinland), I would better my terms a bit. A major company in Dresden, Daumann, became my target. I didn't have that friendly of a term with them, anyway. After harassing Daumann a bit, I was finally allowed to land, but to my dismay, the Reds still wouldn't let me purchase a Sabre.

I went on harassing until I was on neutral terms with the Red Hessians and finally bought the Sabre. However, I wasn't going to let them get off that easy for making me go through so much trouble. As soon as I launched from the base, a patrol moved in front of me that quickly became scorched particles. I spent a good five minutes wiping out Red Hessian ships, then I became bored and realised that I didn't like the Sabre that much after all. So I sold it. That was evil.

That was a long time ago. Now, I'm currently flying a good, stable Eagle. It's an incredible ship with the right pilot.

Anyway, feel free to tell your own nasty or evil tactics.

My fav evil tactic is the one I use online when I'm pirating. It's simple psychology. It needs a server with quite a few people online to make it worthwhile though. Hover about 400m above the tradelane, repeatedly disabling it, until you catch yourself some human prey. Try to be neutral or friendly with the AI factions that go through there so you don't get caught up in battles with them. Now, when you drag the human players out of the tradelane, swoop down on them. It sounds simple, but see it from the ambushed person's viewpoint: they see an arrow at the top of their screen. To them, that suggests that there's an enemy behind them. So, they turn around, and don't realise usually until after turning that you're not there...and by then you're behind them and have probably killed them

I once went deep into Rheinland, just for fun, and flew arround for a few minutes just to allow the chancellory to build up their forces a bit. After two dozen or so ships showed up, I mowed them all down, and proceeded to fly arround some more, waiting for re-inforcements. Not really nasty, unless you count butchering innocent police for fun nasty. Next time you're scenned though, try releasing your cargo, heading to a trade lane, tractoring it back again, and escaping while he figures it out. Lotta fun. --- VH16

I always attack places like Douglas Station in Omega3 because ships there are crap civilian fighters without CD's. I go there, shoot a transport, tractor in loot and get the hell outta there. I like it(Douglas) 'cos it's outside military patrol routes

The ultimate nasty, a friend told me about a time he hired someone to escort him an his freighter ful of diamonds to someplace. After completing the mission successfully he gave the escort 50,000. The escort says 'wow, 50,000, what are you carrying?' my friend says 'diamonds'
'diamonds eh...?'
BOOM!!
My friend has lost his ship his diamonds and his progress, next time, make sure you sell the diamonds first!

In space, no one can hear you scream!

Sometimes I would tag along with diamond runners then convince them about a shortcut from Sigma 13 to New Tokyo, so I'm lead them into the volatile gas field, where they would get set upon by Corsairs and outcasts. You let them do the work, then you put in the last shot and tractor the loot.

I gave that up though when a group of them put a 5 million bounty on my head.

Trust no one, and multiplayer's a ton of fun. Honestly, anyone stupid enough to follow you into a volitile gas cloud infested with cossairs deserves their fate. --- VH16

IMMHWO it is despicable & about as low as you can get to take-out someone that has trusted you enough to hire you to help them. It makes MP look bad & will drive away players. MP is about more than just blowing-up every player. If you ant to do that then you should start your own server & state that as one of the rules.

Well, that is the view from this frog pond.

Rule One:trust no-one!

Rule Two; Since you can't trust them, pay them to work.
