Ship Styles

Obviously, each group has a different style for thier ships. Liberty has a futuristic "art decco" theme going. Kusari maintains a strong asian influence with "junk" style sails on its ships and nice looking battleships. Rheinland has the whole industrial might thing going on. Each one is easily enough to match up.

So what's the deal with bretonia?

Their fighters look like fish and their battleships look like canopeners with colors that don't come to mind when I think about the UK. What going on with their theme? --- VH16

viva, the uk is mostly dull and grey

Freighter, in dumb US stereotypes maybe.............

cupidstunt - You might want to check freighter's profile. He happens to come from the UK.

I think that the Bretonian ships are majestic. To me it looks like an ocean theme, in honor that the UK is an island country and all.

No matter where you hide, Methane Cloud, Ice Field, or Debris Field, the Rat will find you.

actually although they do look like fish, apparently the design concepts were drawn from kitchen tools like can openers and corkscrews.

Us Brits (My profile says US 'cause that's where I live now) have some pretty crazy designers... Just look at the Ford Anglia (the pale blue car the Weasley's borrow from their dad at the start of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets movie) .

The British Navy has one of the longest histories in the world, and it's not surprising that their descendents in Britania choose to emulate wet-navy vessels with keels and fore/aftcastles on their capital ships, and aquatic themes for their smaller vessels. The only thing that seems to stick out is the gunship, which looks almost as though it should dock onto something larger, like a front of a modular ship .

The colors are probably those of shellfish (cooked shellfish rather than living lobsters and crabs, as red is the stereotypical color we associate with these creatures).

Well, that's my theory and I'm sticking to it!

I wasn't necessarily saying the style isn't cool, I just don't see how it fits. Why didn't the ships take on the gothic styles of their plannets? --- VH16

tahts true. i think sum1 screwed up with the bretonia ships. they're more of a canadian kinda thing to me. with the red and white. i might make a mod where i make some gothic ship sfor bret and steal the bret ships for the canadian places lol ^^

That mod would be pretty wizard (cool), but what would you call the new Canada? St. Lawrence? Capitol New Toronto? Still, the Quebecquois would make an awesome criminal group to fly for. And you're right, red/white is much more Canada than England. --- VH16

How many of you picked out the mistake in the letter above?

The Bretonian ships look like insects. They do not seem to match british design and ideals. Kusari battleships are the coolest ships I have ever seen.

How much cardamine are you gusy smoking? the outcast ships are the best! props go to reinland too.

Ghost, we're so on the same frequency it's not even funny. I love Rheinland vessels, especially the humpback when you blow it up as the fragments scatter. The Sabre is still my favorite ship of all time, it's just so cool. A real shame it's not as maneuverable as the eagle. --- VH16

norice how much Trenton Outpost looks like the ANS Reliant? one for you real Lancers there..

there are some funky designs in FL, but WC still had the best concepts esp. Kilrathi ships.

Guess why I'm playing the Privateer: the Reckoning mod? "I shall clean my claws on your corpse.."

..how about getting me off these antibiotics..

ya, the rienland ships are good. if there was a mod that gave every ship set a freighter and VHS the reinland one would look the best
