Russian version ???

Hi guys & gals,

I'm being offered an "official Russian version" of FL, boxed in a jewel case (with printed cover), without a manual. The picture is pretty bad, and it's an auction, so I wanted to check if this is a hoax or if there IS a Russian version with this configuration. All I know of is the DVD box release.

Microsoft hasn't been very helpful, and I didn't find anything else on the web - so I'm asking you. Some further comments: The vendor states that the game language is Russian and English, and the CD cover has the "Universy of Possibility" line in cyrillic letters. But there's also the ESRB rating logo on it (strange).

If you you of any "franchised" or reboxed version, please drop me a line.

Thanx, CM

Never heard of such a version.

Seeing as there is a russian fan site for freelancer - maybe ask there? If you go to the offical freelancer site, you can find a link to the russian site. Failing that - clicking here will take you to it - although i don't think its been updated in a long time (then again, my russian is rop...sorry, non existant - so I can't tell ).

To verify that indeed it was linked FROM the offical website - check here, and see the first one (World of Freelancer).

You may need a translator for the website - and many now let you "paste" in the url of the website page to be translated and then translate it for you - so google website translators or something.

Thx Chips,
tried that, but until now no response.
Might also be because my Russian is only slightly above rotten, but hey - in two days we might know more. I guess I'm spending the 5 bucks on the version, then sue for copyright infringement...

As an update, and to close the post:
I've lost the auction, so I can't verify if this "russian version" is valid.

But I've found out that the russian publisher FARGUS sells FL for the GUS states. They don't give any language specifications, but the cover design and liner notes are in Russian. So whoever is looking at how to get FL in Russia and the former USSR, here we go.

There used to be a Russian who posted here. Wonder what language he played Fleerancer in.
