How is digital anvil handling the "no cd" aspects of the game? When I first played it, I was at a LAN party, I could still play after the party, despite not having a disk. For good measure, I bought a copy, being a firm objector to piracy, but my question is:
How much money was lost to the possible scamming of the company?
What luck for rulers that men do not think - adolf hitler
History shall be kind to me, for I intend to write it - Winston churchill

I guess I should rephrase my question. "Did it make enough money to satisfy management?" A small company making 10,000 sales would be overjoyed, whereas for Microsoft 10k sales is hardly a drop in the bucket compared to the figures for their other products.
I can certainly detect plenty of enthusiasm here, but how any of that can help I have absolutely no idea.
Edit: I stand with the guys who say 'no' to cd-prot. Bad enough I have to manhandle the cd every time I want to play, what if it becomes unreadable for some reason (scratch/break/wtf), I'm left with a large chunk of useless hd real estate.

I haven't seen anything on DA doing anything extra with any games. I doubt there will ever be a FL2, and I will take that $50 bet. If they did do anything, they would do to FL what they did to Starlancer, same concepts, totally new story set hundreds of years later. --- VH16

I'm going to hold you to that.
I found linkage to what Digital Anvil might be up to. Looks like an Xbox 2 or Xbox 2/PC project. I would be absolutely gob smacked if it was a sport game. I just don't see the benefit of having a developer produce a completely different genre than what they have done in the past, it doesn't make sense. Then again when have middle management types ever made sound decisions? So I could be wrong, but i'll still be gob smacked.

I do clearly remember a post from DA saying that there might be an expansion/add-on for Freelancer. They even said that they wanted to do something with the Trade system.
I assume what they meant by that was that they would finish off what was in their Freelancer pre-release statements about how the trade prices would be dynamic. The fixed static ones we have now are obviously just placeholders as they didn't have enough time to finish the trading system.

hmmm. no sequel? well TLR is a big modding community. if we all decided to work together on a REALLY big mod, like big enough to call a sequel, we could possibly sell it to DA and then they could touch it up for a true sequel. TLR has how many Modders? theres' bound to be a few people who could do hardcore down-and-dirty reprogramming and, hell some people could even make new sounds, and hardcore modellers could redo all the 3d stuff, and audio wizards could make new audio, and we could use the many utilities to make new systems and ships. hell, we could probably change the characters and the storyline if we really felt inclined to do so (BTW we REALLY need a smaller mod that mads the storyline) so why don't we all band together and make FL2 Ourselves! I think we could, and if there are any legal problems, we could talk to DA about it, i'm sure they'd be happy if we took it upon ourselves to make FL2, and then they could market it!now, if they don't want to buy it off us, then we could keep it a regular mod, and it would be THE BEST MOD EVER CREATED BY HUMAN BEINGS. so what do you guys say?

Mustie, I'm so certain that FL2 will never ever happen that if it does i won't just hand feed your wombats, I'll tuck you into bed with them and sing you to sleep while wearing a grass skirt and I'll change my sig to Darth Derek.
pls Esq get real, there won't be an expansion pack either.
..you shut your mouth, how can you say, I go about things the wrong way..
