Why not make a mod-list whit rankings?

Why is there no ranking list with all mods?
I find the site somewhat unpleasant to look for mods.
This is because there are too many mods and to many info.

It would be great if you people (from the site) make a ranking list.
A list with all mods in it. Players must be abled to vote on each title. One vote per Mod per Logged in User.

In that way players can choose the best mod suitable for them.

I like to give you my idea of the best system for it:

Vote 1 = -2 (Horrible Mod)
Vote 2 = -1 (Bad Mod)
Vote 3 = 0 (Average Mod)
Vote 4 = +1 (Good Mod)
Vote 5 = +2 (Superb Mod)

The list should be like this:
1. Name of Mod.
2. Link to mod on the site.
3. Average vote.
-Count all votes together and divide by the ammount of votes and you got the -average vote (-2 to +2).
4. Also place a column for each vote (1-5) with the ammount of users for each vote.
5. Make a percentage list.
-votes 1 and 2 are negative, 4 and 5 positive, forget vote 3.

Example:
Mod1: 1000 are positive 750 negative
Mod2: 200 are positive 100 negative

Wich is the best mod? Mod 2 of course. 2/3 (66,6%) are happy with it.

So in listing you get this: (values are fictive and are not calculated out in percentage, etc.)

NAME / LINK / AVERAGE / VOTE1 / VOTE2 / VOTE3 / VOTE4 / VOTE5 / %GOOD

A Mod / {*} / 1,3 / 1002 / 3004 / 123 / 8732 / 121354 / 86%

Anyone suggestions?

Some one may not like a mod at all, while another thinks its the best. Polls, are not really that good. Some have said Hostile univrese was not good. But I played it and loved it. It depends on the player. When the quesations come up, Which is the best, the answeres are based on the individual preference. Bet to do, is down load severl yourself and playthem. Do it in story line and in Open SP. then you can create your own list of favorites.

I find myself in agreeance with Finalday on this one. Besides the fact that you can simply decide for yourself I think creating rankings might discourage some of the mod makers out there from creating and posting mods. If you look at the mod forums and you see the whiney crap these guys/(gals?) put up with already I can't imagine why they would put out any more mods if they had to suffer everybodies opinions through a ranking system. You have to remember that all these mods are the product of an individual's free time, and that they post them here with no more thought than to allow all of us to gain more enjoyment from the game. I realize you weren't saying "let's trash all the crap mods" but that's what a ranking system would, in effect, accomplish. Personally if I don't like a mod I keep my opinion to myself and just delete it from my computer and the person that made the mod never has to know.

I know, your right. But it can help to choose from the immense choice available nowdays.

And to be honest i'm stuck with this.
Dutch people have a saying: Not abled to see the forest through the trees.

Can you say wich are good?
And i mean with good, professional (no crap from amateurs).
Fun to play, Re-newing.

And please do not begin with "its your choice" there are too many things too look at and everyone is saying their mod is the best even when the mod is buggy and childish simple looking.

Even if people make a list from good mods your hostile universe mod will probably be there, some must like it. And for crappy childish mods there are often to little people who play it so it wouldnt come on the list.

I now it would be difficult for people that make mods, but there are simply to may mods on this site.

Alright, this is just one man's opinion but personally I enjoy FLRebalance3.4 and Evolutions1.27. They both have an expanded universe and they both up the difficulty level of your computer opponent.

anybody who thinks that people who make all these mods do it just for us players 2 have fun is being somewhat simplistic (sorry bas spelling)
these people make these mods so other people will tell them how great they r its just as ego driven as any thing else just read the flamouts between the diferant modding groups .These guys/gals r very competive these people would give up body parts 2 b the #1 mod on lancers
besides there all ready a ranking systerm in place its the how many downloads each mod has

have a great day

@DRKmatter: I stand corrected. You're entirely right about some of the moding groups out there. Some of them do some pretty pathetic stuff trying to be #1. But you've gotta admit there are alot of small moders and even some moding groups that are in it to have fun and let everyone else join in.

I disagree with this to some extent, and agree to some extent as well. Whilst there are some out there who are extremely competative, and claim all sorts of rubbish, there are some of us who just love the modding and are addicted to it. Its fairly easy to see what people fall into category wise....

There is a reason though - some believe that this is their ticket into gaming and making games. Personally, I think we have 0 talent. Some have (modellers) got attributes that are good and may possibly become employed for making models, but simply put - give those poeple other things to do, and up the detail....and then you will see them get "spread" from real talent. I saw a site about a modeller who makes stuff for films and games - basically when i thought work by moddlers here was good, what this guy can do BLOWS you away. There is no comparison. For the coders, they are wishing on a hope and prayer - of which they will have neither. If offered the chance, NONE of us could actually make a game at all.......so there we go - they are wishing and dreaming in the wrong way.

BUT - when you say they are competative. Some poeple DO alot of work to figure problems with modding out. It took nearly 800 hours of MY life to make evolutions, and that is NOT a joke. However, someone can just open the ini files and remove the things I did and put them in THEIR work instead....then they can claim it as their own....which in turn means that people think THEY did it. It is a kinda ego, but only like anyone else would feel when something they made was claimed for by others. Think about it, if you made something that was liked, you wouldn't really care if poeple were kissing your butt, or just saying it was cool. However, someone else came along and people were kissing THIER butt for YOUR work, and then you would look just like some of the poeple you are talking about. It has happened, some of us are more lax about our stuff than others........some are hoping for employment (and therefore guard things closer to home), BUT the one thing i can say we all do it because, is because modding is addictive. I constantly try to wonder what else i can make it do

the biggest problem with a giant mod-ranking is that so many mods are basically the exact same as other mods- intentionally or not- and that can cause some friction between posters meaning you could get a voting war that explodes into a giant verbal firefight that can only hurt the community. probably the best way to tell what mod(s) are good is to look at the download numberes for each mod and see which ones have the highest numbers. at least thats what i think
