When I finished the story for the first time I started looking about for jumpholes, wrecks, hidden bases, etc. I'm a real completist, but it did keep me going for a long time, finding absolutely everything (and without maps, too)

I have this very problem. This is more or less the first SpaceSim i played and i fell in love with it, the characters, gameplay, graphics, the concept, everything.
After completing the storyline i got a bit jaded with the game, it was a bit of an anti-climax to end up back in the New York system level 30something fighting rogues again, saying that i would have been more gutted if the game had entirely ended and when i knew the storyline was coming to an end i was saying in my head 'please don't end completely' lol. Extended storylines such as maybe something based around earth or the hispania, as far as i'm concerned there is an AMAZING opertunity for a sequel that i hope so much will be released, the games size was its sucess and its defeat I think, it was amazingly big, but too big to make 'complete' but as i've said a sequel could add to this + its a modd'ers paradise.

All in all the ending of the storyline has kinda made me a bit jaded of the game, so i'm gonna try playing a few other similar games, but i know for a fact nothing will beat this one and i will come back......

A Sequel! plleeeaasseee

After finishing the storyline, I've enjoyed just exploring all the dark alleys of the FL universe. It's fun looking for jumpholes and hidden wrecks and going to new systems. Some players don't like the completely open-ended nature of the game after the story is done. It perturbed me a little bit in the beginning, but now I really like it.

It would have been nice to be able to run into old friends. Imaging walking into a bar and unexpectedly finding Juni who just happens to have a mission for you. Or at semi-regular intervals being visited by characters developed in the storyline. But I think this only a minor blemish on a great game.

I've yet to figure out what the Nomads are doing in that "empty system", with apparently no bases and only one way in or out. Feels like more was intended for that system, but didn't get included. Then again, it might be meant for something in a follow up game -- if one happens. An access to an unknown universe???

p.s. Just when you think you've found it all, a surprise comes up. Yesterday I heard a message from a police ship that I'd never encountered before. It was just another police cargo inspection, but I wonder why it had never come up before. It was a male voice that usually is a pirate trying to rob you.

Jose Chavez: "Trent! It's good to see my kind of scum."

No point in the nomads??? You need to complete the story line my friend.

If you've played through the storyline enough times that it doesn't inspire you to "go again" You've equipped yourself with the best ships and equip and need something more....Check out the Mods and online communities. There are a number of great mods and some very active roleplay servers. Evolutions is the best I've seen so far, check it out and give it a spin. You'll be surprised at how new the game seems.

You need to read his post again my friend.
He wasn't talking about the story, he was talking about the "empty system" ... The 2 things are different you know.

Want a challenge?

Go find the Hispania, WITHOUT FINDING OUT HOW IN THE FORUM!!! (cheater)

I'll give you one hint though... it's not in the bottom half of the Sirrius Sector, like people keep thinking it is.

It's not too easy. I've been playing for 6 months, and I just found it today!!!
